I don't understand the reservations system. I thought I would make reservations when we arrive at DW October 4. We are going to 4 parks 5-8. Should I be making reservations way ahead? New to these boards, but have read many helpful ideas.

Most people make the PS (this is no a reservation) for sit down dinners or lunnch or breakfast. It has been know that if you wait you will not be able to get a table. Basically it is a system to let them know how many people with be eating there that night. If you have PS you will get to eat, as those without just have to take a chance there will be table for them.

It has happened to us. We had changed our minds to where we were going to eat and thought we could just walk up a get a table at a different rest. Wrong. It was full. then we had to walk around trying to find a place to eat. It was not fun.

Most of the places you can make a PS 90 days out. There are a few you need to do it sooner. T
They a usually the most expensive or a special show i.e. hoop de do revue.

You do not have a contact so if you do get there and change your mind you can cxld it, but make sure you can get in where you would like to eat instead.

I hope this clears things up for you.

I always make PS before we leave for WDW. This way I can get the times and places I want and not have to worry. Some places book up very fast.

After being turned away last year at LeCellier.. we always make PS's.. at least for the ones we REALLY want to eat at.

Good luck!!

PS very important to make.

We went in Mid July very packed. However, we stayed at the contemporary had ps for chef mickey's restaurant . The only time I could get a ps was at 9p.

We are early eaters. So since it does'nt cost anything to make a ps I made the ps for 9p. We got there just as they were opening.
Walked right in !!!! Told them to cancel my ps for 9 pm.

Same with breakfast we had NO PS BUT GOT THERE AT 7:15A. We were seated asap. We had breakfast at chef mickey's ...and at ohana at the poly.:teeth:

Totally cool maybe we were just lucky. But, give it a whirl and see if they will seat ya.

You don't eat they don't make money.:earseek:

Welcome to the DIS board!!!

We make PS's a month or two in advance at some of the more popular restaurants--those with character meals and places like Le Cellier. When we get to WDW, we make PS's for the next day or the same evening. You can call Disney dining from your hotel or use the special phones at the park on the same day. We've stayed at the Swan/Dolphin and have had great luck with them getting PS's for us during our stay, so I've never actually called. We were able to walk into Alfredo's without a PS and got a table right away. You just never know.

you should make reservations as soon as possible. Most restaurants won't fill up until a couple of weeks before the date (with a few expections) - but the earlier you make it more likely you can get the time you want. For example, I tried to make dinner PS at teh Plaza (MK) about 70 days out for 5:30 and had to settle for 4:50. On the other hand, a 6:00 PS at Whispering Canyon was made about 20 days before we left.

It used to be that only hotel guest could make PS, but now it is open to everyone, so you really need to get it early.

Remember, there is no cost (just a couple of exceptions) and you can always change/cancel them. YOU DON'T want to be walkng around EPCOT at 5:30 trying to find a nice cool place to eat. Go ahead and make a PS as a backup if nothing else.

Since reading your responses all of you are so helpful. On the travel chanel it said the day of the people called in and got to eat. Boy they must really be wrong. This board is very helpful. We are going to disney in Oct 4 there is 9 of us so dinner will be a little more difficutl for PS's.

Not really if you make PS ahead. Two years I ago I was in charge of booking things at Disney for a trip of 22 people. I had no problem with PS for that number. Now the only thing they will tell you they can't seat them at the same table, but will try to get tables close to each other. We were there for six days and each meal we were at table by each other.

If you wait and don't do the PS's I think you will have a problem getting seated for 9 right away at any of the rest. As it has been said before you can cxld, but at least you will go with the comfort of knowing you have a place to eat when you arrive there. It is also on less thing you will have to worry about before you go. It is nice going having everything in place.

I have made several PS and now have to change them all since we have redone our schedule. Boy what a bummer. Trying to get them was a hassle just to change them all. That's life!!
