I was thinking of getting dinner at the Poly in order to go on the beach and catch the fireworks afterwards. I've never done this, and am wondering what kind of timing I should try in order to do this correct. This is my first trip to WDW, and this would be on a night we wouldn't be going to the parks. What time should dinner ressies be? Do they even let you on the beach if you aren't staying at the Poly?

Thanks for any input!

Yes, you're welcome to go on the beach even if you're not staying at the Poly. LOTS of people do this!

As for your dining time, I would make sure you leave yourself PLENTY of time when making your ADR. Remember, you could easily sit for 30 minutes past your ADR time waiting for your table. Depending on the size of your party, I would suggest 2-3 hours before the fireworks. It always seems our dining experiences run longer than expected at Disney, even for the 2 of us. Better safe than sorry. Plus the grounds at the Poly are beautiful, so you could always take a nice relaxing walk after dinner while waiting for the fireworks.

Awesome, thanks!

Oh you will love the fireworks from the POLY!!! We were lucky enough to have the best seat in Ohana's to watch the fireworks!

Watching from the beach is really cool too!!!!! You guys will love it!

Have a great time!!!

The beach at the Poly is the one place outside the parks I will watch the fireworks. I like it even better than I do at California Grill. I agree, two to three hours is about right. If you get done with dinner early, you can have a drink in the bar by O'Hana or down at the pool bar. You could also just stroll around the Poly's grounds, they are lovely with the lit torches. Or you could ride the monorail around the loop a couple of times.

But definitely allow youself plenty of time, you don't want to feel stressed or worried at dinner that you'll miss them.

What TIME is the fireworks? 8-ish?

Depends on the day, check disney's website for the official times. Most nights it is going to be at 9. If it is a halloween, christmas, or other party night, those usually go off at 9:30, and actually those are the best nights to watch from the poly (or other out of park location) since you'd have to pay extra to get in the park that night.

We had the great fortune of staying at the Poly last January, and got upgraded to a ground floor lagoon-view room. We faced MK and got to watch the fireworks from the beach - it was wonderful. Come to think of it, maybe I'll book dinner at O'Hana and watch the fireworks from the beach when we go again next January. Thanks for the idea!

We had a 7:40 ADR at Poly and were on the beach only 5 minutes or so before the fireworks at 10:00! So, definitely plan your meal in plenty of time. Dinner at 'Ohana is so AMAZING you definitely don't want to rush!!! :goodvibes
