I need some help please. We are 2, 40 year olds, my 77 year old mom, and my 17 year olds ds. We haven't eaten at Chef Mickeys in several years and I wasn't thrilled with the food, BUT for the first night is it sooo much fun and sooo Disney. What do you all think? Is it too childish? Will we feel out of place? Would you recommend somewhere else for that first night Disney Magic feel?

Go for it! I bet the 77 year old lady would have a blast! This would be the perfect way to get you in the mood for Disney. Relax and be a kid again...we all do, so you'll fit right in!

Chef Mickey's is always our first meal in WDW!!! I can see us doing it when I'm 80 years old. You will have a great time. Is the food the best you'll ever eat? No, but it is generally pretty decent and the character interaction gets you in the Mickey frame of mind!!!! Loud, raucous, crazed...yep, we wouldn't miss it.

This is one of our traditions. I always pull a waiter aside and ask them to ask Chip & Dale to mess with my DS (10). The first time we went, years ago, they stole his napkin and ran around the restaurant. Last time Chip messed with his hair, pulling it up into an Elvis-do--he loves it. He always wonders what they're going to do next. I can picture him when he's 17, sitting there being harrassed by two chipmunks. :earsboy:

Afterwards, we go out back for a picture in front of the steel mickey ears.

By all means, do it! You'll have a blast! Chip and Dale really did play a lot with DS16 last time. It was hysterical. At least for me!

My only warning would be, since that is your travel day, if you're too tired, don't go. If anyone needs a little rest or peace adn quiet, don't go. It's wild and loud!

I suspect there are PLENTY of "kids at heart" adults getting into the spirit of Disney all over the place so don't you worry. Anyway...pluck 'em if they can't take a joke! :flower:

My parents both 70, DH and I both 44 and Sis 39 will be eating there the first night they arrive. You should go for it and have fun. DH and I really enjoyed the food there is 2001 with many tasty choices. Starting our trip with a visit with Mickey and pals is a great way to begin your WDW adventure.
