We are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary while in Anaheim, and I’m wondering if anybody has a favourite restaurant away from the parks?

Nothing too fancy, but I’m not overly concerned with cost. Somewhere where my daughter and I can wear sundresses, the guys dress shirts with shorts.

Thanks!

Happy Anniversary! What kind of food you like? There are sooooo many wonderful places to eat. Car or Uber? How far are you wanting to go?

We have a car, maybe within a 45 min drive? We will be in LA for our first three days, so would prefer not to go back into L.A.

As far as food, we aren’t picky but I do have an allergy to shellfish. Somewhere with good pasta, a steakhouse, or great Mexican all work. We also have a family rule that we stay away from chains while on holidays - that being said we are from Canada so there are likely good local chains that we don’t have here!

Thank you :)

If you like Mexican, Javier's is awesome. There's one in Irvine and one in Newport. (also a mini-one at SNA). That's one of my favorites to go to when we are there.

If you want much more casual, Anaheim Packing House is a collaborative eatery - multiple places to eat under one roof. We go there quite frequently also.

The best Italian is in the city we live in, about 8 miles form Disneyland. Its called Dominic's in Cypress. Its a mom and pop place. Incredible.

Too bad about the shellfish, Boathouse on the Bay has the best views anywhere! Its in Long Beach on the border of Seal Beach. They have a large menu so lots of options aside from shellfish.

Chen's for Chinese in Long Beach is the best Chinese we have had outside of ChinaTown in San Fransisco.

For Mexican my favorite is SuperMex. Its a local chain here but not a big chain, maybe 5 of them. Their taco sauce is like liquid crack and homemade so never the same if that makes sense. Best tacos I have ever had. Their enchiladas are amazing and DH loves their chili rellenos.

L'Opera on Pine Ave in Long Beach is more upscale and spendy but worth every penny.

I could go on and on.....

Man...with SOOOO many great option on property and DTD I never understand the desire for or the want/need to go off site for food absent budget or a specific must have.

Napa Rose at the GCH and Steakhouse 55 at the DLH are some of the best restaurants around IMO and perfectly fit your description. It is well above the typical in park food experience.

We love to celebrate at Steakhouse 55.....it's great and we dislike spending time going off site. Ralph Brennen's in DTD is really good, too.

For steakhouse: The Ranch (https://theranch.com) on Ball Rd. is about 10 minutes northeast of the parks. (It is located on the ground floor of the Extron building.) The sommelier there used to work at Napa Rose and worked with the Food & Wine Festival at DCA. Great food, great wine list. There is a saloon next door for country dancing with live music.

Park Ave. (http://parkavedining.com) and its sister restaurant Il Garage (http://ilgarageristorante.com) in Stanton -- a neighboring town, close by Anaheim. Classic American cuisine (Il Garage has very good Italian cuisine), produce from their own garden on the premises. So nice!

This list might have something that interests you: https://la.eater.com/maps/orange-co...na-irvine-dana-point-newport-beach-costa-mesa.

Happy Anniversary and have a wonderful celebration dinner wherever you choose to dine!

We just ate here a couple weeks ago. http://www.anaheimwhitehouse.com
Tha had been closed for a while because of a fire and reopened on May 8th. We had never been and it was nice inside with a good menu and really good food. I thought it was very reasonably priced and it is on a couple miles form Disneyland.

Either that or if you wanted to have a few drinks with your meal & not worry about driving later on, there's always the Catal restaurant in Downtown Disney.

It's a classy place, not too expensive and the dress code should match what you'll be wearing.
