Dinner at Trattoria Del Porto at PF or The Kitchen -HRH to see characters???

Hi,
Can anyone help me please??? I got an email in response to a question posed to Reservations at Universal.

We'll be at HRH from Aug. 5-9th and they said there are 2 weekend dining experiences with various (any could show up) characters.
One was Friday evening at the Portofino (Italian Buffet at the Trattoria Del Porto) and the other was at The Kitchen (HRH) on Saturday - regular menu.

Has anyone eaten at either place?
Seen Characters during weekend dinners?
Which would an 8 and 11 year old prefer?

We went to the character dinner at Trattorio del Porto. Woody and Scooby Doo were the characters and they posed for photos and signed autographs with everyone in our party. It was not busy at all. The food was good too.

I've eaten at both numerous times. I give the edge to Trattoria del Porto for food, if the adults care. The kids won't care.

If you're not staying at PBH, a visit there is kind of fun for the hotel themeing.

My family and I went to the Trattoria Del Porto for the character dinner. They only had 2 characters...Scooby and Woody Woodpecker, but especially Scooby spent quite a while with the kids and they both posed for photos. BTW the chocolate layer cake was mmm, mmm good!

We've never been to The Kitchen...but might try it during our next trip to US.
