Hi! We - DH, DD13 and myself - are going to Disney the 2nd week in Dececmer and wanted to try a new restaurant for dinner at MGM. We have been to the Sc-Fi, 50's Prime Time and Hollywood & Vine.

Between Brown Derby and Mama Melrose's which one would you pick and why? I have looked at both menus on All Ears Net and still can't decide.

I have learned a lot from these boards and now need your help:hyper:

Thanks And I look forward to the suggestions!!!:wave2:

Our very first WDW meal was at Mama Melrose's. The food was good. But too pricey and we had lousy service. (January and no crowds)
So I have always been prejudiced against MM. However, we would like to give it another try sometime.
Brown Derby we have eaten at multiple times. Last Sunday the most recent.
With kids, I would be more inclined towards MM. I think they have food and atmosphere kids would be more inclined towards.
BD can seem stuffy. And picky eaters may have a harder time.
I guess it depends on everyone's personality. Do you like more or less formal?
At BD I feel like I can order something there not every place has. MM is pasta and pizza. Nothing TOO different there that almost any good Italian restaurant offers. Macaroni Grill is probably better than MM, is my guess.

I haven't eaten at Brown Derby yet, but DH and I LOVED Mama Melrose. We had an amazing waiter (Kevin) and Chef Brian whipped up something vegan for me that was better than any other meal I ate in the 10 days we were there. So good, we ate there twice.

In our opinion,I would suggest if you are going to be at MGM all Day try Mama's for lunch and BD for dinner. The menu's are different so each would be a new and tasty experience for you.::yes:: :wave2:

I was just wondering how Mama melrose was also, sorry i am just jumping on

My hubby had THE WORST prepared filet mignon of his life. I don't remember what I ate--and dd who was 2 at the time (now 4)--we orderd off of the kids menu (we have since decided we will never order for under 3 off of a kids menu unless it involves a happy meal and mc'd's)--There kids menu is wayyyy too expensive for kid's food ($7 or $8 for chicken fingers--please!)

We did the fantasmic dinner package and it felt so weird b/c they expected each person to order an entree (as if we would only order one meal). So when they said that we felt compelled to order for the 2 year old as well. The dinner package has since changed and I don't know the stats on that.

I'm a sucker for Italian and enjoyed it when we went in 1997. Haven't been back since--but we usually stay away from the sit-downs at MGM--and most meals there if we can as it is our least enjoyable theme park in terms of food.

I would say Mama's over BD--but it is old experience talking on a memory that Mama's was good and our recent (2 years) BD experience was terrible.

Hi! I wanted to thank everyone for their comments.

We usually do not do sit-down restaraunts at MGM but we wanted to see the Osbourne Lights and decidied it would nice to try some place different! I think we are leaning towards Mama Melrose's.

We are also thinking of doing lunch with an Imagineer which is at the Brown Derby. I called today and they had the info about the changes as of Sept. 1 - it will be lunch only and no dinners and also the the age limit is 14yrs. and older. I am assuming this will begin Oct. 1st - since you can only make those PS's 30 days in advance.
I just hope they will still be offering this in December!

kristen821 - Don't worry about jumping on - the more the merrirer:Pinkbounc

Thanks again for the reviews and anymore will be greatly appreciated -
