Dinner at Kona Cafe or Ohana?

I have an ADR for both Kona and Ohana for dinner in May since we were thinking about staying at the Poly. We decided to stay at a moderate to save a little cash and don't want to make the trip over to the Poly twice. Which one should I keep? It is 2 adults and 1 child. My daughter is 5 and is somewhat a picky eater.

We ate at 'Ohana in December and loved it. I guess it depends on what kind of dinner you want too. If you want a louder, more animated dinner, go for 'Ohana. If you want something quieter, go for Kona. The other thing is that where your daughter is picky, you don't have a choice of picking from the menu at 'Ohana (unless there is a children's menu there). However, there are so many kinds of meats, she might be okay. I don't think you can go wrong either way.

I would only eat at `Ohana if you have a larger group. Plus, I prefer Kona Cafe`. Your 5 yo would do just fine at Kona.

Personally I ask "what menu appeals to you more?"...that should dictate where you go.
That said, we love Ohana. It does get very loud (much to much this last time, has put me off a bit). But I think it was because it was much later in dinner service. So we will try and do an early time next time, see if it is better because the food is very good.

the desserts are amazing at Kona!

we had really good entrees there too... terriyaki steak, chicken lo mein bowl, scallops and the bread is yummy!

We didn't do Kona but Ohana was great! My family would have no problem eating there every trip. Also even though it's a set menu you can order something different for your child we did!

I have eaten at both, since there are just three of you, i recommend Kona, O'hana i think is much more entertaining for large groups

I've heard this a number of times. We have dined there with parties of 4 and 6 and didn't notice any difference, loved it the same all times. Why does the size of your group matter at 'Ohana? Thanks.

If you DO decide to stay at the Poly, do both! They are very different experiences.

I vote for Ohana because I just :love:the wings, shrimp, and dessert. Ohana is fun for a little one,and if the menu doesn't appeal to her just order a kids meal. We always order my son one because he doesn't like meat.

We thought the food and service was much better at Kona. We will not go back to Ohana again. The meat was dry, tough and tasteless. The noodles had no taste and the service was very slow and sub standard. Ohana was our worst meal of the week when we went in June.

Hi pinkxray,
I have eaten at both several times and my vote would be Ohana. The food at both places is wonderful so you can not go wrong there. I just liked Ohana a little better. Plus I think your 5 year old would have more fun at Ohana. Have a great time which ever one you choose! :thumbsup2

I agree. I could have written this except for us it was in Dec. :)

We had the opposite experience last week. The service and food at Ohana were phenomenal whereas Kona was lackluster at best. We will not be going back to Kona but plan to make Ohana a Disney must do for our family.

Now see, we ate at Ohana because of my son and the meat! My son (9 yo at the time) said, "Do they serve meat? 'Cause I like a lot of meat."
