This will be our first time to WDW. I was doing some planning and was wondering if a 5:35 dining time at Jiko will leave enough time to get to see the 9 o clock show of La Nouba.
Thanks

I guess it would depend on how long dinner goes. For 4 people with appetizers, wine, dessert, etc it could take more than a couple hours.

When I stayed at AKL it seemed like a long trip to Downtown Disney. IIRC, it was probably a half hour or so. And thats if you get there right when the bus comes. A taxi might make things a lot smoother if it's in your budget.

But I think it's doable.

Welcome to the DIS Boards!

As a prior poster mentioned, a taxi might be a good idea so you're not cutting it too close. The bus makes several stops at DTD, and if I recall correctly, the stop closest to Cirque de Soliel is the last stop. You can always catch a bus back to your resort after the show.

Jiko is a wonderful restaurant! Going there and then to Cirque de Soliel sounds like a terrific evening.

WOW.. Lets work backwards using the worst case scenario. Your tickets say to arrive 30 minutes before at 8:30. It will take 10 minutes to walk from PI to CDS - 8:20. Your bus from AKL to PI stopping at MP will take 20 minutes - 8:00. Worst case waiting for the bus (if you just missed one when you arrive at the bus stop) is 20 - 30 minutes - 7:30. Walk from Jiko to bus stop is 10 minutes - 7:20.

To make sure you cover any unknown, I would say you should leave Jiko at 7:00PM. Thats less than 1 1/2 hours for dinner. Jiko is not a restaurant that I would want to rush.

A cab would take you very close to the entrance to CDS and would only take about 15-20 minutes from AKL.

DH & I ate at Jiko one evening while staying at AKL and we were there for a very long time; OUR CHOICE. Our waiter was awesome. He explained all the different foods on the menu. He actually had us sample some items we were unsure of trying which he said we would love. It was a wonderful evening.

If there is one thing I cannot stand is feeling like I have to rush through one event (your meal) to make sure I get to my next event (La Nouba). You find yourself constantly looking at your watch.

I would do Jiko a different night that La Nouba. Eat at DTD the night you have La Nouba. House of Blues is right there. Along with Rainforest. I would do Jiko on a night you could stay there for a long time and thoroughly enjoy yourselves. :thumbsup2

Hi Canoeq--
What month are you going?? We are doing the exact same thing. We are going on Sept. 10th. Jiko reservations at 5:30 then Cirque at 9pm.
I am glad that you asked that question. I was wondering it myself!! That made my mind up that we are taking a cab. I want to take my time in Jiko.
It is my 21st. Anniversary and my son's high school graduation dinner.
Have fun!!! :cool1:

Honestly i wouldn't want to spend more than two hours eating even enjoying my self at at leisurely pace and I have eaten at many Disney restaurants. Since you have one of the first seatings of the night I would think your table would be ready as soon as you arrive. So valet your car you have from 5:30 to 7:30 to eat. From 7:30 to 8:00 to drive to DTD (it will not take this long) and that still leaves you 30 mins to walk to the show and you are still 30 mins early. To me it is plenty of time.

With your own car, I really don't see this being a problem at all. Even if you take 2 hours for dinner, and are out around 7:30-7:45, you should have plenty of time to make the drive to West Side and get to Cirque way ahead of showtime. Have fun....Jiko and Cirque are both wonderful!
