I welcome your expert opinions on a non-character dinner choice at Epcot with our girls 4 and 6, We are looking for something special, possibly with entertainment .

Coral Reef - Watching the Shark, Stingray's, and Turtle's would be entertaining for them. Get the Creamy Lobster Soup, very very good. It is still kind of funny to me that you eat fish while you watch them swim by.

San Angel Inn - This may be only me, but I really enjoy watching the boats from the El Rio del Tiempo go by while we eat. So they may not enjoy as much as I do.

Teppanyaki - I've never been here, but have only heard good things about it. I will have to try it on my next trip. I'm sure someone could help me out with this one.

I agree with the above three and would also add

Biergarten - Germany - Great food and a floor show with oompah band and dancing. They usually do something just with the kids.

Marrakesh - Morocco - Also great food and there is a belly dancer who will pull the kids onto the floor to dance with her. Lots of fun!

Our family really enjoyed Marrakesh (Morroco) last year, though we did it as a lunch. They had entertainment - our kids! The bellydancer asked if the kids would like to learn, so they went with her onto the dance floor. We all had a ball! The food is very fresh tasting. I really liked the different salads and the chicken bastilla (I think that was the name)

Planning to go again May 15!

Have fun:bounce:

We have a PS for Biergarten (Germany) in Epcot.

It sounds like alot of fun, it will be myself, DH, DS9 DD7.
DH is from Germany, he is looking forward to some of the German beer.

THANKS for all your help. it sounds like Coral reef or Morocco might be good for us. Due to dietary restrictions,I probably can't do Germany.

Beellydancer sounds FUN!

Now another question. From another thread I've read that the experience at Coral Reef is much better near the tank. If we were to ge a PS here, would 5:30 or 6PM be better to try to get a table near the tank? It opens at 4:30 but thats too early for us for dinner. I was thinking by 6PM the early birds would be finishing up.

Our group had 5 kids and two adults last year (all females except for my son) and we all loved the Teppanyaki. They cook right in from of you. The waitresses make chop sticks that they could use and do origami for the kids.

We've done Teppanyaki and Coral Reef with our trio (ages 3,6,and 8). Personally, while the kids did enjoy the fishies swimming 'round, dh and both agreed Japan's food was much better. We had 5 pm seating @ Coral Reef (party of 8 -- had my SIL, BIL and my 3 yr old nephew). We didn't get to sit right at the tank, but about 8-10 feet from it. It didn't hamper our view, except for my poor SIL, whose view was largely obstructed by a pillar. Divers were in the tank while we ate. I recall that the kid's menu had pasta and pizza and I think chicken nuggets (the pizza looked yucky -- very frozen-reheated looking, but pasta seemed ok.) My 2 yr old LOVED my lobster bisque... however -- we later discovered that the sauce used on the Seafood Pasta at Chef Mickey's was essentially the same, really couldn't tell a difference, although admittedly I didn't have them side-by-side to compare. I will say CM's was a lot cheaper, though!! The big drawback for us at Coral Reef was the price -- by WDW standards, even, we just thought it was over-priced for what we got. Teppanyaki was more in-style for my dh, too, as it's steak/chicken/shrimp and rice. Coral Reef had lots of items in their dishes that my simplistic dh would wrinkle his nose at! (He did eat his wasabe potatoes, but the word alone really scared him!) If you like Benihana's and such, you'll like Teppanyaki. If not -- well, your choice got really easy, huh! My kids still have their chopsticks that the waitress "rigged" with rubber bands and a paper wedge to make chopstick "tweezers" for easy use!

Either way, you will have an excellent meal -- we just happened to prefer Teppanyaki, and if we did CR again, it would just be for dessert for a brief look at the fishies.

If you are going to Marrakesh don't get an early PS. Last NOV we went around 6 PM, We were the only people there and no bellydancing. We were there for about 45 min eating, many people came in to look but nobody stayed. We will not go back again. The food and the service weren't anything to write home about, and I love middleeastern food.

Call ahead to check on Bellydancer times at Marrakesh, so you don't miss it. We were there in summer (at a late lunch) and she was dancing. It was wonderful. We did not have or need a PS. Grown-ups loved it. Kids loved it. Kids menu has awesome beef tenderloin shish-ke-bobs. My kids (10, 8 & 4) were relieved to not have to eat another chicken nugget!

We are the world's least adventurous diners and this was a fabulous experience. The promise of belly dancing was the only way I got my DH in there...:p
