Would like to take DD to a character dinner our first night at WDW. Am debating between Chef Mickey's and 1900 park fare. Which would you all reccomend?
I know I could get to Chef Mickey's by taking the bus to MK and walking to the Contemporary, but how do I get to GF? We're staying at ASMo.

I think 1900 would be your best bet. Cindy, Prince, etc are there and the food was pretty good.

Tried CM once for dinner & never again. It was the worst food & service I ever had at WDW.

You would get to GF by taking the bus to MK and then either the monorail or boat launch to GF.
Although the food at Park Faire probably is more interesting, I think the food at CM's is fine for dinner. Very basic, but when we went everything was fresh and there was certainly plenty to choose from.

Personally, I would make my choice by which characters DD would enjoy more. Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto are generally at CM's and Cinderella, Prince Charming, Anastasia, Drizella and the Step-Mother are at Park Faire.

I was all set to put Park Faire on our ADR list for August as my daughter enjoyed it last year when it was the mice instead of the step-family. She saw a picture of the step-family on the DIS and started freaking out saying she was not going anywhere that the mean step-mother was. :scared1:

The characters were great at Park Fare - the step-sisters were a riot. But we thought the food was mediocre at best. We'd give it another try since they had only recently re-opened but DH would pick Chef Mickey's food anyday. And I do like having dinner with the mouse.

I actually loved Chef Mickey with my girlfriends last year, it was fun! Even though there were no kids in our party it was fun to see everyone interact with the characters and we had fun with them, too!

Our family would vote for Chef Mickey's hands down, but we have 2 boys. We always have breakfast and dinner at CM. We tried dinner at 1900 this past Oct. Characters were GREAT but we were not too impressed with the menu.
