Restaurant Reviews
Two families: the H family: MrsH, MrH, JSH 11, ATH 8 severe tree nut and peanut allergies which makes dining a little tricky; the M family: MrsM, MrM, KAM 9, BAM 7
All on Dining Plan the Hs went OOP for breakfast at CP; the Ms did not go OOP at all but ended their stay w/only snack credits left so they built their last day breakfast out of snacks (rice krispie treats and fresh fruit)
Late dinner at Pop Century food court after a long day of travel kids had burgers and chicken fingers and cheese fries dd added grapes to her meal to make it appear healthy I had the turkey/brie/craisin sandwich, MrsM had the meatball sub, not sure what MrH or MrM had no complaints all around
Food Court Breakfasts: over the course of five days we all sampled a variety of breakfasts enjoyed all of them, but had some problem w/the dining plan what is a meal, what is a snack etc the rules have changed dramatically since we were there in August but no one went hungry we particularly liked the fresh made waffles
Breakfast at Cinderellas Royal Table: good, not great, but good but we all know we were not there for the food! LOL! the chef made ATH special waffles that were safe for his allergies which was great Although we preferred it when Cindy visited each table at the meal, the character interaction was excellent we saw Belle, Aurora, Snow White, and Wendy (since when is Wendy Darling a princess?) DD was bummed that Jasmine was not there, but we had the good fortune to find her later over near the Magic Carpet Ride, so that worked!
Dinner at Chef Mickeys: good food plentiful nice variety something for everyone great character interaction our server was a little harried but we wanted for nothing for long she encouraged us to get specialty drinks (i.e. smoothies) and gave us bottled water to take with us as it was included No complaints but lotsa full bellies! The chef made ATH a special ice cream sundae sporting a hidden mickey made out of whipped cream w/a ton of gummie bears hidden in the bottom (he told ATH to dig deep for hidden treasure! LOL!) because due to his allergies, the buffet desserts are off-limits to him and also brought MrM a sugar-free cheesecake dessert cause he has issues w/diabetes.
Breakfast at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot for those that did not get up early enough for Pop Century Food Court breakfast no complaints but not a lot of variety!
Lunch in Mexico: excellent food CM was easily confused, did not handle our special order (nachos w/cheese only!) too well, and very unsure of how the dining plan worked and that made it a bit trying but eventually it was all okay the combination platter #1 is a good variety and well worth a CS credit!
Dinner in LeCellier: YUMMMMY! Great bang for ones buck/TS credit! Above-average service! Minimal complaints (ds cheeseburger was like a hockey puck and there are no kids desserts that are safe for a peanut/treenut allergy and the other familys ds teased my son but it was all resolved when I spoke w/the waiter and discovered that the marshmallow on the skewer w/the sprinkles portion of the smores was safe for ds so he was able to get two of those and be happy!)
What we ate and how we liked it:
Appetizers: I had the cheese soup (w/pretzel bread for dipping) and it was delish and the portion size was just right; MrH had the beef tenderloin kabob and there was none left for sharing, so thats a good sign; JSH also had the tenderloin kabob and also ate every morsel; MrsM had the tomato stack and it looked divine; MrM and KAM had the beef barley soup of the day and gave it a thumbs up; the boys each ordered Caesar salad but were none too impressed so the moms and dads helped them finish them (and they were great!)
Entrees: JSH and I both had the 7oz fillet DELISH! (JSH asked for a pasta side instead of potatoes and the kitchen happily obliged); ATH had the hockey puck, errr cheeseburger but he was hungry so he ate it anyway, along w/some of his sisters pasta; MrH had the pork tenderloin which he thoroughly enjoyed I managed to stick my fork into his sweet potato puree and it was heavenly! MrH and I shared the mushrooms and they were a great accompaniment to the filet; MrM had the mussels over pasta and seemed quite pleased but was disappointed in his side of asparagus as he said it was too salty; MrsM had the free range chicken and cleaned her plate, so that was a good sign that she enjoyed!
Desserts: ATH had above-mentioned marshmallows; MrsM and I each enjoyed the maple crème brulee which was quite satisfying; MrH had the whiskey cake and said it was as good as he remembered; the kids had either the Moose or the Smores and all enjoyed; MrM had a sugar-free citrus mousse that he was quite pleased with.
The downside of this meal was that we were all tired and cranky, especially the kids they were finding it hard to get along with one another the service was slow (for a family w/tired and cranky kids) we decided that this is not the place to have dinner after a lonnnngggg park day but rather on a half day when you can arrive refreshed and relaxed and able to soak in the atmosphere rather than just wanting to be fed our bad!
Lunch at Pizza Planet: the families separated for part of our MGM day and our family opted to share some pizza at PP, knowing that we were having an early dinner we got the combo of pizza and salad and the boys ate most of the pizza and the girls enjoyed the salad it was exactly as we expected not the worlds best pizza but certainly not the worst kids played in the arcade so that was fun!
Fantasmic Dinner Package at Hollywood & Vine: the H family have been here before and since we like buffets, we were quite happy the M family had not been here before and were also quite pleased w/the selections
I think we all tried some of everything the items that got outstanding reviews were the watercress/goat cheese salad; buffalo mozz and tomatoes; mussels; root beer sweet potatoes; chicken w/pinot noir and berries; kids were more than pleased w/the childrens selections and a few brave ones even ventured to the adult buffet! Desserts got rave reviews as well and ATH was really happy w/his special bowl of rice dream w/a side dish of minty pastel non-pareils MrM said it was the best meal of the trip!
Breakfast at Crystal Palace: The early-rising-HFamily had an 8am ps for CP the M family opted to sleep in and meet us at the MK later by now wed all had almost enough of one another anyway, so it was a nice break and a nice breakfast one that we all thoroughly enjoyed the kids started w/the waffles and fruit and were quite pleased MrH and I enjoyed a little bit of everything I made sure to have the breakfast lasagna in the beginning of my meal, rather than at the end so I was not too full to enjoy it (like last time LOL) everything was hot and fresh and delish my eggs over easy were perfectly cooked as was my toast! (LOL its the little things in life!) ATHs allergies were a non-issue thanks to a very helpful and informative chef the coffee leaves something to be desired but I know not to expect good coffee at wdw! LOL! Character interaction here at CP was above-average the characters came around more than once, were super friendly and played games and stuff w/the kids the only problem was that Tigger never showed up, so as we paid our bill we informed our waitress and she had a CM find Tigger and he met us in the center of the restaurant and he and the kids had a ball! It capped off a nice breakfast nicely!
Lunch at Caseys: hot dogs, cheese fries, cokes and brownies whats not to love?! LOL! the M family dined at Columbia Harbor House and seemed pleased as well
Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern: this one was tricky as mentioned above, wed had a bit too much togetherness over the past few days so we opted for two separate tables of four (which is what our ADR was anyway they offered us one table of eight but we declined) and for the most part we enjoyed this meal by now JSH had been having stomach problems (she drank water fountain water against my warnings!) and made half a dozen trips to the rest room during the course of the meal MrH, ATH and I enjoyed everything, I especially loved the salad ATH favored the apple cobbler (I wanted cherry so I was bummed out)! This was the *best* character interaction of our trip! They spent tons of time with us, came and visited repeatedly, Dale sat in JSHs chair and hung out w/ATH while JSH was in the restroom and, the highlight of the meal for my kids: Pluto barked!!
Thats it for more specific questions, please do not hesitate to ask!
