(Part One)
So DH and I are just back from our wonderful trip where we ate and drank around the world. No food porn but I have a few thoughts to share.
Since we are AP, we use our TIW and eat primarily TS. Usually we do 2 TS and the other meal is CS or eat in our DVC room.
First the misses:
Colombia Harbor House. This used to be a favorite CS location for us. We ate here Friday night and shared the chicken nugget basket. Years ago they used to offer chicken fingers but with cutbacks changed to the nuggets. They also used to offer cups of Newmans Own honey mustard sauce but have now gone to the generic pump dispenser. Their honey mustard is still good, but the nuggets had NO FLAVOR. It was really sad. The fries were hot but the nuggets yuck!
Garden View Tea. We eat here every trip it has become our tradition. I dont think we will be coming back for awhile, if ever. The flower-pattern china is gone, no teapot cozy, just doesnt have the same feeling like it used to. The food was good, in fact it was the best fruit served (especially honeydew) the entire trip! But for what we expect, it isnt worth it any longer. We now need to find a new relaxing 1st day tradition.
Now the HITS!:
Le Cellier. We ate here Friday for Lunch. We both had a bowl of cheddar soup to start. Exactly as I remember and expect. Ive never had a variation. DH had the Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon. He LOVED it. He especially loved the risotto. Instead of a heavy entrée, I ordered Spicy Chicken and Chipotle Sausage which is an appetizer. I was hoping for something warm and yummy and what I got was AMAZING! I dont think Ive read a review about this dish. It is QUITE spicy (which I like) and the corn polenta and sweet onion jam compliment it very well to reduce some of the heat. We also each ordered a Moosehead with our lunch. If you like light beer, this one fits the bill. I should have gone with something a little darker to match my food, but thats ok.
Flying Fish. We ate here Saturday night. We went back and forth between Cali. Grill and FF and finally decided on FF since we were staying BWV and have already been to Cali. Grill many times (but never FF). I really liked the ambiance inside. It is a bit louder than I thought it would be, but we noticed that a lot during our dining this trip. DH ordered the Lobster soup and I had the Fresh Mozzarella di Bufala. Yumm-y! Both were so delicious. My mozzarella was fresh and melted in my mouth. I think the tomato/mozzarella salad can be overdone at restaurants, but it tasted very unique here. DHs soup was very creamy and had such intense lobster flavor. I might have had a few spoonfuls .
For our entrees, DH had the Pork Loin and sadly he was not impressed with it. I felt bad because he was really excited about ordering it. It came with a side of truffle-laced Trofie mac n cheese which he also wasnt thrilled with
and he LOVES ALL mac n cheeses. At FF DH struck out 2 out of 3 with his choices. I ordered the Potato-wrapped Red Snapper and it was so delicious, especially with the Veal Glacé, Red Wine, and Cassis-Butter Reduction. That sauce is what makes the dish! To drink I had the Boardwalk Bay Breeze and DH had
wait, he had one too! He said it was girly drink Saturday and wanted to partake. I think he just likes the sweet-fruity drinks
. It was really good. Our waitress was wonderful and totally made up for how DHs meal was lacking. I want to return again
DH said he would order something different.
Via Napoli. This was our meal Thursday night. We ate around 8:15pm and the line was super crazy to get in. DH approached the podium (outside in front of the restaurant) and she directed him to go ahead inside since we had ressies. Since it was such a warm evening, I said it would be nice to sit on the outside patio, but that would have required a longer wait. Instead, they sat us in the side atrium room that is parallel to the outdoor patio. Our waiter was from Rome and so sweet! We didnt get any appetizers here, just pizza. DH had the individual Margherita pizza and I ordered the individual Prosciutto e Melone. We also shared a pitcher of sangria. Thats kind of our thing when we visit a restaurant that serves it. OMG! My pizza was sooooo good. Im actually drooling for it right now. DH really liked his as well (but not as much I loved mine)! Im not ashamed to admit I might have almost finished my entire pizza. DH ate the remaining slice, but only after I removed the prosciutto and melon. Yum! I am excited about eating here again.
Part Two to follow soon!
