Dining reviews 11/25-12/6-Lots of pics, a little talk - Counter Service - The End!

I had the mussels last time we ate at FF. They were good, but I think it's back to the crab cake for me!

That steak looks awesome! If only I could ignore the snapper...

There are other things on the menu, however to truly enjoy this place seafood is the way to go, however......stay tuned!

I usually like to order seafood at seafood restaurants, and steak at steakhosues, but this;

WDW2007173-1.jpg

makes me want to order it! (And of course the best sounding thing on the Yachtsman Steakhouse menu right now, (on All Ears,) is the sea bass with crab ravioli.) I might have to rethink my ordering stragedy. Of course I do have eight more months to think about it.

Flying Fish (Part II)

Are you kidding me, us mind sitting at a bar?

I just spat my juice out at that comment - you crack me up Kathy :rotfl2:

No sooner had I ordered my beloved Skyy Berry Martini our pager went off so I HAD to take a pretty big gulp of it, couldn't chance spilling any going down the stairs.;)

This is definitely wrong - it's 7:40 am here in the UK and I so badly want one of these now ;)

I ordered the Crispy Sesame Calamari with Spiced Green Papaya and Asian Dipping sauce, this was the best Calamari we have ever had, not to much coating, very crispy and tender.....soooo good.

Having said we don't like seafood, I do love myself some Calamari and these look great :thumbsup2

Oh my goodness, now I am completely rethinking a visit to FF - this steak looks absolutely gorgeous and just how I like it (well, maybe not quite med rare but definitely charred on the outside and mouthwateringly tender and juicy on the inside is the way to go) - now I'm craving steak at this desperately early hour of the morning. Roll on April ;)

Great update Kathy - I'm so pleased you posted this as it means FF has become a possibility for us - well, me anyway. Can't wait for the Le Cellier review.

I'm enjoying your reviews! It's time for me to start making ADRs for our June trip, and I'm getting some great ideas. I'm looking forward to your review of Le Cellier...I don't think I'll be able to talk DH and DS into some of the more interesting places, though...they're pretty basic with food & aren't very adventurous...:sad1: Boo hoo for me...Do you always plan your ADRs quite ahead in advance or are you able to snag ressies closer to your trip? I'm not ready to commit for many days, yet!!

That snapper is very hard to pass up, luckily we got to go to FF twice and the decision was much easier.:goodvibes

I'm the exact same way - seafood at seafood places BUT this was a big exception to that rule for sure. Just remember it's charred which some folks don't like.:)

I'm so glad you enjoyed my bar humor.:lmao: Just think how awesome a night it could be....Skyy Berry Martini.......Crispy Calamari.....Char Crusted Steak....:worship:

So glad you're enjoying the reviews. I'm a planner, got my restaurants picked out with times at the 180 day mark, but that seems to work for us. If you don't like to commit too soon, you'll be fine, especially if you plan to stick to the more basic places.

Unfortunately my LeCellier review will only have one pic and that was my cocktail for the evening. I remembered that I started with a sinus infection that night and that's why I didn't take pics.......but the food was great!!!

Those scallops look so good - that's what I would have ordered if we'd kept our reservation. Then again, knowing how things were going for us that week ... they would have been out of scallops by the time I placed my order. :rotfl2:

Thanks for sharing, Kathy - great job! :thumbsup2

That steak at FF looks AMAZING!
And just to let you know, based on your review of bluezoo (and your not so subtle advertising via PM ;) ) we cancelled our Artist Point ressie to try bluezoo. I'm very psyched! :woohoo:

:lmao: There are so many people trying Blue Zoo now, maybe I can get a commission!!!!!:cool1:

Great updates Kathy! I can't wait to try FF now.
I love the pics of the view from your room too.

Kathy, if it works out for me and DB to trade off watching the kids for a date night-FF is where we will be!!! all of that looked yumm and I don't even like scallops and not big on steak-but that fish and calamari and crab cakes....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Thanks for your enjoyable reviews- we have 17 more days!!!

Le Cellier -

This was the night I wasn't feeling well, I had a sinus infection, so no pics of food. First up, the one and only pic, the Blue Glowtini:

WDW2007155-1.jpg

This was our second time dining at LeCellier. Last year the one dish that impressed us the most was the Prince Edward Island Mussels served chowder style, in fact we thought this was the best dish we had on the entire trip. Dipping the pretzel bread into the chowder with the bacon and potatoes is pure heaven. So our appetizer order was a no-brainer and it did not disappoint, great as we'd remembered.

For the entrees, as you may have noticed DH is not much of a steak eater, he went with the Sauteed Shrimp and Bay Scallops (Surprised?) - served with a rich lobster cream sauce, linguini and spinach finished with lobster oil. This dish was full of shrimp and scallops, he devoured it. Last year I had ordered the Strip Steak and wasn't "blown away" with it, just so-so so I decided to go with the dish that gets the rave reviews - Le Cellier Mushroom Filet Mignon - with Baby Bella wild mushroom risotto, white truffle and herb butter sauce, topped with fried parsnips. NOW I GET IT !!! This was amazingly good, the mushroom risotto is the perfect accompaniment to this steak. I'd probably rate this the second best steak I've had at WDW right behind FF.

We took our desserts to go, we each got the Canadian Club Cake which was very good.

I also must acknowledge Lindsay, our server. She was one of the best we've had.

Our rating: :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Would we return? Absolutely!!

Next up will be the last TS review I have for this report - Spoodles...hint....YUM!

Woohoo, I've been waiting for an update - and here it is! Love the Blue Glowtini - had one at the Belle Vue back in August and it was lovely - although not as good as my beloved Skyy Berry ;) We absolutely loved Le Cellier in August and it was the first ADR we made for our upcoming trip -reading your review makes me even more excited to go back there - thanks!

GREAT Review!! My mouth is watering and my stomach is rumbling!! Well, only 28 minutes until lunch time!

You've made me really want to try Flying Fish! That snapper looks awesome, and I'm not really a fish person, but that steak looks amazing.... I'd be lost for what to choose!!

I'm still kicking myself I ordered the soup in Le Cellier over the mussels.... next time!!

We've trying signatures for the first time this time, so that will be interesting! So far we've decided on California Grill, Jiko, and Citrico's. We're contemplating Narcoosee's and now Flying Fish

The Glowtini doesn't measure up to our beloved Skyy Berry IMO either.;)

Sounds like you're going to have some mighty fine dining this time!:woohoo:

Hi Kathy! :goodvibes

Although I'm hard pressed to eat at a steakhouse at WDW because beef is what we do here in the armpit of the Midwest, you make Le Cellier sound pretty tasty. I thought your hubby's dish was especially appealing. Was it over-sauced? I hate it when a restaurant drowns pasta and seafood in cream sauce. :scared:

Brenda - I wouldn't say that LeCellier is one of the best steakhouses I've been to, but that Mushroom Filet is special and unique. Johnny didn't think the pasta was over-sauced but I did.:)

Wow, Kath I almost missed 2 meals at FF & Le Cellier! Wasn't that calamari the best?! I don't think I've tasted a more tender but crispy fried calamari anywhere! The steak at FF looked great too! Thanks for sharing.:thumbsup2

We'll tell 'em TigerKat sent us when we go back next week! :thumbsup2 Between your review and reminiscing about our meal there in October, we ditched Kona and will be revisiting the cantonese lobster!

I'm always seduced by the Le Cellier food porn, but when I get her into bed, she just doesn't do it for me. :confused3 Maybe I've been ordering the wrong stuff. The mussels sound very good.

We had calamari earlier in the trip at Wolfgang's which wasn't even close to the calamari at FF. They know how to do it right.:thumbsup2

I felt the same way last year, if it hadn't have been for the mussels saving the meal we probably wouldn't have even considered going back this year. Like I said, now I know, that Mushroom Filet is the dish to order there.

Now as for Blue Zoo, think of me as you indulge in that succulent lobstah and take pics from every angle.:lmao:
