Dining Reservations for 8 people?

I've been checking reservations even in Downtown Disney, and even though reservations are available for 4 people on some days, there is absolutely nothing for 8 people that I could find. I didn't do an exhaustive search.

I remember in the past (pre-covid) making reservations for 7 people without too much of an issue.
Do I need to call this in?

Any other suggestions? I was thinking of making two 4 person reservations, but it may be hard to get in the same time.

DTD Regularly has tables for 8, but they don't release til about 6 weeks out. When are you looking for?

Try making the reservation for 4, then modify it and change to 8. Worked for me yesterday.

Honestly, we are looking at December and trying to get something like Lamplight Lounge in DCA, but I was just looking at overall available in September and October as a test. Downtown Disney still has spots open but not for 8, so I am worried about December. I know december is not available yet, but I didn't want to waste time if 8 person reservations just never show up.

We went to Tortilla Jo's as a party of 8 a couple weeks ago, and they did seat us at 2 4-tops.

Are the phone lines open to be able book that way again? We're going to be in the same boat and trying to figure out the best way to go about it. I guess I'll have to play around with it in the morning to see what's available when the open up the new day.

playing around with dining trying to get a feel for what to expect and am only finding Wine Country Tratorria and occasionally Storyteller’s coming up for 8 people. Nothing for DTD.

Is there any way to book outside of the website/app? Or any hints on getting tables for 8? I tried the above trick for Tortilla Jos and it didn’t work. Just trying to mentally prepare if we’re pretty much stuck doing counter service for our entire trip.

ETA: can DTD restaurants only be booked through Disney or can they be called directly?

I recently just went through this. I have four reservations on my Disney app for dinners and my husband has four in his app. Both are for four people each for a total of 8. We are hoping that we can go up a bit early and let the restaurants know that we are all together. We go the beginning of October so I'll try to post back to let you know if it worked.

We made reservations for Trader Sam's and had to do a party of 4 and a party of 2. We did get the same time but we didn't want to be seated apart. We ended up canceling anyway because we wanted to be outside and we found out that the reservations at TS's are for indoor only. We went a few days ago and it was easy to get an outdoor spot for 6 by walking up.

Thanks! I just chatted with Disney on the app and this is what they suggested. She didn’t have any idea why I was able to do Wine Country Trattoria or Storytellers for 8 since they’ve been told it’s 6 max.

But my plan will be to do the same. But I might even do a quick stop at each restaurant the day before our reservation to see if they think they’ll be able to seat us together (understanding it’s not a guarantee), which will give us enough time to cancel if they can’t

Thanks all, I think we may either have to eat outside of DLR for dinner, or try the two reservations of 4 each. I am not sure why they are making it so hard.

For large parties yon can also call the DTD restaurants direct. Have gotten reservations that way when Disney Dine did not show any availability,

Thank you for this info! I had asked Disney and they weren’t sure, but this was on my to do to check. Do you know if they also follow the 60 days ahead of time if calling?
