Im a WDW veteran but headed to DLR in July. Will dining reservations be a joke to get this late in the game? For WDW, it would be ridiculous to get this late unless I eat dinner at 3pm. Trying to decide whether to get the dining plan or not. Also, likely staying in DL hotel. Are there many eating establishments off property within walking distance from this hotel? TIA!

I was able to make reservations to all of my selections with no issues. I tried the e-mail at dine@disneyland.com and all I gave was my name, number in party, location of restaurant, range of time for PS. They got back to me within a day with my confirmation numbers. I booked Goofy's Kitchen, Carnation Cafe and Big Thunder roundup BBQ. You may have some issues with the popular ones due to the opening of Carsland.

hello kitty I would recommend against getting the dining plan...they are actually just prepaid vouchers...not nearly what its like at wdw...but as far as availability then you should be fine...I know all about wdw ADR and the calling as soon as the 180 plus 10 days are available..but again its nothing like ours...chances are you will get what you want at a time you want no problem...i just wouldnt wait too long:goodvibes...my favorite offsite restaurants within walking distance are cheesecake factory and PF changs at gardenwalk and Mimi's:goodvibes

You'll have a difficult time with a reservation for Carthay (not impossible--there's always cancellations), but they others should be fine.

There's a lot of other restaurants in this area--including in DTD.

oh yeah...thanks rtfelt...I totally forgot about Carthay...and i think you are probably right on that one...

You might have trouble booking the most popular spots like Carthay Circle and Blue Bayou at this point, but you can most likely still find plenty of other options. I've been able to score same-day reservations at Big Thunder BBQ, Cafe Orleans, Wine Country Trattoria, etc. in the past, so there is definitely a chance that you'll be able to find something. Best of luck!

It's not like Disney is going to get mad at you for asking, so why not just go ahead and ask?

I think you'll be fine at most, if not all, of the places so long as your time is flexible.

You should be fine getting reservations at this time for DL in July. DL dining isn't in as much demand as it is in the World. The Blue Bayou is the only place I saw where reservations were really necessary.

Made my reservations today for our August trip including Carthey and Blue Bayou along with others thru VP, went smooth as silk and they sent a detailed itinerary(day by day).

We have the dining number in our cell phones. We have been known to call just hours before at Cafe Orleans or the night before for character breakfasts. ;) We play things by ear during our trip, going with the flow. I hate to plan out every minute, so I usually only plan the character meals in advance.
