How does your ASD child do at the Biergarten restaurant? I mean sitting with strangers? Would they accomadate and give us a table for 4??

I can't speak to the ASD but do they have tables for 4? I'd think they'd give you one when it opens up but it seems like it could be a wait.?

We love Biergarten and always go there and I only remember getting the tables for 8. I was thinking if there are 4 of you then you would always have a table end - either near the rail or the aisle - perhaps seat your child there?

We have sometimes eaten there where we didn't interact much with the other half of the table - we always seat our kids on the end (whichever end we get) and it seems like they are far enough away that it isn't a problem for anyone.

It is a noisy restaurant though (in a good way I think)! If your child likes a lot of noise and music it is a great place to go!:goodvibes

I guess I'm afraid to ruin other people's dinner. He can't stand to see anyone eat soup?? He will gag and vomit! My husband and I LOVE the food there, but not sure if its worth the stress. I love to interact with others but unforunately our 7 year old ASD does not. He loves the music, and would eat some of the food they offer, just wish they had seats for 4 for these circumstances.oh well. Any others that had an experience there please share!

Maybe you can call the restaurant and ask them if they can sit you by yourselves. They have been really good about our requests.

Definitely contact the restaurant not disney restaurant hotline but the restaurant. From the pictures I have seen there are some tables along the walls that look like they are for single parties, I could be wrong.

As for the soup most likely he would not see people eating soup there but you could probably block his vision of the person. Talk to the CM that seats you to make sure they know of this and any other special needs.

If all else fails try fairytale grandmothers as they might take him for a couple hours. I have seen others post of leaving autistic children with them.

Another option is to ask the restaurant if you can get the food to go. At least your would get the food that you love but I am pretty sure you could get a table along the edge.

For all the help! See our 9 year old loves it there too! He loves the food and the band! I know they have that potatoe leek soup. I remember seeing those smaller seats up against the railing! I was wondering if anyone has ever been seated there. It would be SOOOO helpful! Again thanks for everyones advice!

We have not eaten at Biergarten, but we've been to similar restaurants (loud, crowded, seated with strangers.) I usually introduce ourselves and explain that DS13 is autistic and he's rather messy, and we ask if they mind sharing a table with us. And when I say messy, did I mention that Christian eats only with a spoon? Except when he eats with his fingers? And he wears a bib? And when he is finished he stands up and walks off, unless you have something on your plate that appeals to him--then he'll come over and sit in your lap, eyeing your dinner. It's a little bit like eating with a 120-lb toddler. or Helen Keller.:cool2:

I have never had anyone bat an eyelash. We have been welcomed everywhere. Sometimes if Christian is getting too worked up with the noise, DH has to take him for a short walk. It's not unusual for one of us to leave the meal early with Christian or switch places at the table to give each other a break. You do whatcha gotta:confused3

All you can do is try. Call the restaurant and see what they can do for you. If you get there and it all goes to pieces, ask if you can get what's on your plates and go eat outside. I know, kinda ruins the moment, but such is life with a "spectrum" kid. Hopefully, you'll have a great time:hug:

Thank you very much!! I think we'll give it a go! Hopefully they will at least put us on the "end" of the table, in case we have to keep getting up. He also will try to eat standing up if he doesn't like the way the chair looks. I'll definitely post how is goes after our trip. See we've eaten there before when he was a toddler, but what toddler isn't extremely loud, messy while eating!! Now that he's 7, its harder to ignore! We love him but others might not enjoy their meal:rotfl:

See, that's where we say "oh well...":confused3 Can't please everyone. But we do try to at least give them a heads-up so they can opt out or we can move on. We don't want to make other people uncomfortable either, but sometimes it happens.

I'm thinking too that if you explain your needs that they might just give you a table for 8 without seating others with you too. As busy as they are and as big of a place I don't think it should make that much difference.

When you make your reservations, ask them what the quietest time is. Usually , it will be the end of the lunch period. We ate there on our trip earlier this month and there were some tables empty.
Also, explain your situation when you make the reservation and again when you check in for the meal. It would be more pleasant for you and the other guests if you can be seated at a table by yourselves. I didn't notice any tables for 4, but I wasn't looking for them either. As the others mentioned, if you can position him at the rail or at the end of the table, he won't be sitting next to anyone else.
They do serve soup, so chances are pretty good that he will see people eating soup.
Here's a picture of the tables in the upper seating area (sorry it's a bit blurry). This table was right next to the stairway that goes to the lower seating area. If you are seated there, you won't have anyone beside you on one side. But if you are seated anywhere else, you will have people behind you unless the table is empty.

Thanks for all the advice! I explained the situation when I made the ADR, and will try again at check-in. Hopefully they understand what I'm talking about. We'll be eating there Monday May 19th!!!!! Thanks for the photo too! I could request a table near the stairway.

If you eat there at an off-meal time (i.e. not typical lunch and dinner times), you should be able to find a table by yourself. Last time I went to Biergarten was a trip during the month of March, I think it was, and we ate at an off-meal time. The place was pretty empty with lots of empty tables.

::yes::
As you can see from my not so good picture, there were empty tables. There were actually quite a few empty ones when we were there in April. We also saw tables with only 4 people.

Your picture wasn't showing up before, so, no, I didn't see empty tables! ;) Now it is working, though.

When we went, the majority of tables were empty. That is what I meant to mean.

That's OK.
I was just agreeing with you.
