Dining Plans With AP?

Dh and I will be travelling with our 3 girls (ages 13, 11 and 6) to see the Mouse for Easter - its a surprise trip
(silly girls swore we'd never be able to pull it off again - the fools!
Anyway, with all that I have been hearing about the dining plans and now that our girls are bigger and eat more, I thought it
would be a great time to look into Dining Plans. But alas, none to be had with our AP's.
Can they be purchased elsewhere somehow? I have read about the DDE for $60 but have never used it. Has anyone here used DDE?
How long is that good for? If it is a yearly thing than it would definitely pay for us to use it (20% discount off meals/beverages at nearly all the TS restaurants in resorts and many through parks).
We usually do at least 3 character meals and often visit 1900 Park Fair, Ohana's and CRT or Akershus when possible.
We usually explore some of the other restaurants too. Please help me oh wise ones guide me with your wisdom, I am so terribly sad that these wonderful dining options are not available to me.

Sounds like you would make good use of it.
Good for a year from the time you buy it.

I have had mine for almost a year now, and will be renewing it at the end of May! I think of it as paying for the tip since we usually tip at 20%. Saved a ton of money this year, so far. We use it at just about every sit down meal, as well as the food court at POP. I actually like it better than the dining plan...much more flexible for my group.
