Hello fellow Disney Lovers, I really need some advice. I have a res. for the Candlelight Pro. (dinner at Japan.) Should I pay the $47 per person or should I use 2 of my table service meals? Also, I really want to eat at Cal. grill but is it worth 2 table service meals to eat at 9 p.m.? ( I want to see the fireworks at MK) Could the 2 of us just order an appetizer to split, do they allow that?
Iwant to use my dining plan the best way I can, I have 5 days.

Thanks to all who respond.:confused3 :santa:

Are you talking about 2 TS credits for what....Teppan Edo (Japan) or for California Grill?? I think Teppan Edo is only 1 credit, unless they changed it after the refurb. CG is definitely 2 TS and worth every credit! However, you can order from the appetizer menu and even desserts and drinks while in the lounge at CG. You still get the same great view of MK and Wishes if you time it right.

Last time DH and I said we would order the sushi and desserts from the lounge and pay out of pocket, instead of using 2 TS credits next time. It was more than enough food.

Hope this helps.:)

To MickeyMotto,

I was told that Teppan Edo would be 2 TS per person for the Candlelight dinner package
Wold it be better to pay $47.99 each and save the 2 TS meals for somewhere else?

I think we may do the appetizer & dessert at Cal grll.

Thanks

Took the words right out of my mouth. We did this last time (weren't ont he dining plan, but we were students, so budget was of concern!). We finished in the MK early and monorailed it to the Contemporary around 8:20. It gave us time to get space in the Lounge, grab a couple drinks and some dessert, and the fireworks came on. CA Grill is very good, but I would use the points for the CP dinner. That's a really great opportunity you only get during the holidays, and I think it's worth it.

Wow! thats the first I heard of this, maybe after the refurb they changed it. Did you hear that from WDW Dining?

I strongly suggest the Appy and Dessert at CG. Do you like sushi?

I personally would pay out of pocket and save the 2 TS credits. Often times after you add up the appetizer, entree drinks and dessert with the 1 TS, its well over $25 pp if you use it for some place like Le Cellier or Wolfgang Pucks, etc. So that would be a good value. If you plan on using them for buffet type meals, it may not be such a good deal. So I guess it depends on your ADR selections.

I just checked it out on All Ears and it looks like it is special tier seating that you are paying for. http://www.allearsnet.com/tp/h_cpfaq.htm

Personally, I would NOT waste the 2 credits. If you want to go to Teppan Edo, go another day and use 1 TS credit for it.

-or- choose a lower tiered restaurant for only 1 TS if reserved seating at CP is your goal.

...again, IMHO any seat at CP is just as good as another. Heck, even standing back behind the America Gardens Theatre you can still see and hear the show!

We enjoyed the CP and it is a great way to start the season, but not worth the 2 TS credits just for a seat.

Hope that helps a little.:)

I'm sure the 2 credits is because of the CP seating. Which, I would actually consider it to be a good deal if only to avoid waiting in line!

I would rather choose a 1 TS credit to secure a seat at CP instead of using 2 credits at a 1 credit restaurant......just for a seat. Thats just me. You could chose another tier, I'm sure for only 1 credit.

I say this because when we went, all 3 DSs were bored after 10 minutes and wanted to go do something else. (they were 12, 13 and 16 at the time) DH and I enjoyed the performance, but wouldn't probably go out of our way to do it again. And I would rather use my 2 TS credits for something like Hoop dee doo or California Grill, etc.:goodvibes

Thank you, everyone.

Does anyone know which Epcot restaurants are just 1 table service on the dining plan?

So do I just call reservations and tell them that I do not want to use the dining plan for my dinner at Cal. Grill. or do I just tell them when I get there?

I have never had the dining plan before and I want to make the most of it to get the best places that I would probably never eat!

Anybody got more suggestions??:wave2:

These are currently 1 TS credit on DDP:

Les Chefs de France - France
San Angel Inn - Mexico
Le Cellier Steakhouse - Canada
Coral Reef Restaurant - Future World
Biergarten Restaurant - Germany
Rose & Crown - England
Nine Dragons - China
Teppan Edo -Japan
Restaurant Marrakesh -Morroco

I would just keep my ADR for California Grill and tell them when you get there. We were seated in the lounge while we waited for our table anyway. Then the waitress asked us if we wanted to order from the lounge. So we were given a choice. We elected to be at a table. Next time we will just have drinks and sushi in the lounge. You will need an ADR just to get up to the restaurant/lounge. They escort you up the elevator to get there.

Hope this helps.

Thank you,

Yes the Disney Agent said it is 2 TS when used for the CP package.

The only time I will be able to eat at Teppan Edo is the night of the CP so I will just pay and save my TS credits.

Do you like the Studio Catering Co? now called Flatbread...??

Do you like Boma? Grand Floridian Cafe? the Plaza? Flametree BBQ?

I am 60 my daughter is 41. We are going Dec.2-7( just us!!) I am paying, I can't afford the GF but we are staying there anyway!! You never know how many more trips we will take together.

This wll be my 19th. I'm not really able to go, very bad knees(arthritis) But I will rent a scooter if I have to. I will have knee relacement after this trip.:sad2: :scared:

I live in Ga.

Have you been a lot to WDW? I love to go in Dec. :santa:

Do you like the Studio Catering Co? now called Flatbread...?? We had coffee and cinnamon rolls there one morning and thought it was good. The staff were very friendly.:goodvibes

Do you like Boma? Grand Floridian Cafe? the Plaza? Flametree BBQ? We love Boma. Its has foods you would never be able to try at the regular restaurants. Plus, it being a buffet, you can try many things to find out what you like. I liked the Bobotie, its kind of like a meat pie and of course Zebra Domes. Never been to GF Cafe or the plaza, but hear good things about them. Flame tree BBQ is very good for a CS.:)

Have you been a lot to WDW? I love to go in Dec. We try to go atleast once a year, but sometines 2 if we can get away. Our favorite time is the first week of December too!!:santa:

It's really 2 credits just because it's a CP package? I think I'd call back and double check that.

We are dining at Le Cellier with the CP Package, which is also a Tier 3, and we were told it is (and has always been) 1 TS credit regardless of which Tier.

I did call back today and the agent I got said it is only 1 TS for Teppan Edo even with the CP. I guess all the agents don't have the right answers.

That helps me a lot

I may have app. & dessert at Cal Grill, depends on how hungry we are. Res. is for 9:00, hope to see the fireworks at 9:30 at the MVMCP.

Thanks again and everyone have a great day:santa:
