Dining plan without tickets?

As I look at the Disney website it looks to me that you can only add the dining plan if you purchase tickets as well. Anyone confirm this? We are AP holders and as such have DDE but with the plans we have this time the dining plan actually does make sense.

You need to purchase tickets to get the dinning plan. You would need to purchase at least a single day ticket for each person.

You do have to buy tickets to get dining but you only have to buy 1-day tickets per person (they can either be save for another time or you can use their value to renew your APs). We did this to get the free dining. Since we are also AP holders but wanted the dining. We loved it so much that for our Jan trip we might pay for the diningto do it again. We also have the DDE card which came in handy for adult cocktails. Also when we ate at Sci Fi, I didn't want anything heavy so I just had the House Salad which is HUGE.
