Dining Plan with AP

I am the only one in my party that has an annual pass-If a discount is offered
in December for my trip I know I can get the discount on the room but can I pay and get the dining plan for everyone in my party? Would they consider this a package and would I have to pay in full 45 days before arrival? I have gotten many different answers from Disney. Can anybody out there help me out. Thanks

I do know that when you add the dining plan to an AP room discount it becomes a package and is subject to the same terms as any package (balance due at 45 days). Here's a mousesavers link to back it up. http://www.mousesavers.com/packages.html#appkg
I assume you must add the dining plan for all people in the room.

As the earlier poster noted, as soon as you add dining, it becomes a package and must be paid for at the 45 day mark. I think, however, that if you don't decide to add dining until closer to your arrival date, you'd pay as soon as you add dining. Finally, I don't know how much time you have to add dining. I've heard 3 days, 5 days, and 6 days.

We were considering adding the DP to a room-only reservation. When I called the CM said that I had to add it 72 hours before our arrival date and pay in full when I added it.

Thanks for the info. It doesn't matter to me about paying in full within the 45 days. I'm just trying to find out if I can purchase the dining plan for everyone in my room even though they do not have an annual pass?

Yes this can be done....we have done it several times. We got the AP rate on our room and added the DP. it is just like a package and has to be paid 45 days in advance. A couple of times, my DH was the only one that had an AP and me and our son bought our tickets when we got to WDW. Hope that helps!!

No - there's no ticket purchase necessary when booking at an AP rate because they already have the ticket. Now if they want free dining then they buy whatever ticket is required with that package.

I just did this for the Expedition Everest Challenge. I have the Premier passport and got the AP discount with free dining for me and my sister, who shared my room. I wasn't even asked whether or not she had any tickets. I did have to pay in full when I added the dining to the room I had already reserved. It was a couple of weeks out, so I can't speak to how many days prior to arrival the dining plan has to be added.
