We just returned using the dining plan for the first time and loved it.

Next year is a big birthday year for my family. My oldest will be 18, the youngest will be 10 in January 10 days apart. I will be the big 50 in September next year so we are thinking about celebrating all our birthdays at WDW.

Can you add the dining plan if you have an annual pass?

No. DDP has to be part of a room, park ticket, DDP package. It has nothing to do with AP, and you can't use an AP discounted room for DDP either.

Does everyone have an AP? I believe you have to book at least 1 night with a package. I could be wrong.

Well crud:lmao: We will still stay on site but I hoped we could still do the dining plan with the AP. I might just pay more and get a 10 day pass and then a 7 day pass to get the dining plan

You could buy just a 1 day basic pass for each person and then use the credit from that the next time you renew your APs. You do not have to have passes that match the number of days you are there.

You could rent DVC points for your stay and have access to the Disney Dining Plan without any association with admission media. You won't even have to buy a single day ticket. :)

If you decide to go this route, the member will need to reserve the dining plan for you, but you can pay for it upon check in. The DVC rent / trade boards have information on renting if you're interested.

We normally use all our DVC points, so don't have them to rent out.

This is what we did. We were credited the cost of the one day ticket to the renewal price of our AP's. We had to pay rack rate for the room. We did this during free dining - don't know if it would be worth it if you had to pay for the dining plan.

A friend of mine went last year around Christmas and swore to me they were offering the dining plan to AP holders with a minimum 3 night stay. Granted this was at Christmas and I don't remember this happening but she usually knows her stuff and swears by it. Anyone remember this?
