dining plan question

We were at Disney last November and had the regular dining plan and stayed at All Star Sports. There were a few days we are our lunch or dinner at our resort using our Quick Service credit. Each time we did this they told us we also get a dessert since we were not getting a drink with our meal cause we had our refill mug. I was wondering if this is right cause someone said you could not do that. We are booked again in November with same dining plan was wanting to make sure it is right cause we will probably eat a few meals at resort.

Yes, it is allowed. We saw quite a few people doing this on our trip over Christmas. It's typically only allowed at the resorts though.
