I thought a read somewhere that dvc members can now just choose the dining plan for select days of their trip without having to make 2 separate reservations....is this correct or was I just dreaming? haha!

thanks

Sorry, you were just dreaming. The only way to get the DDP for fewer days of your stay is to split your stay and not link the two. But you may have to move. You will have to check out and check in again.

well hmmm... I thought I had read that somewhere but maybe it was just a 'rumor' :)

Sure would be nice to book 7 nights but only attached the dining plan to 3 nights or something without 2 reservations

Nice for DVC members, but awful for Disney. Imagine folks booking only two nights of DDP because they want to do the most expensive dinners available on the plan for those two nights. The DDP is profitable for Disney because so many people don't use all of their credits during their stay.

I agree, I think the key to profitability is requiring it for all nights for all guests in the room. If you could pick and choose, you would load up on the days you have it plus only for your big eaters in the group.

Sorry, WDW does not sell partial dining plans, either to DVC or to package guests. Dining plans are available for full length of reservation only, for all guests on the reservation age 3 and over.

Yup...this is exactly what we are doing in 2 weeks.

For our arrival night, I booked a value studio, thinking that we wouldn't be arriving until about 8pm anyways. The next 4 nights, we are in a 1BR.

Well, our flight was changed and now we arrive at 2pm instead. I added the DxDDP to our 1-night studio reservation and now we are eating dinner at Boma on our arrival night. The next day, we are eating breakfast at Boma and dinner at LeCellier. This uses up all three of our credits and we will have the refillable mugs for the remainder of our stay.

We have another "split" stay planned for spring break next year...2 nights studio/3 nights 2BR. I am thinking about doing a DDP for the studio reservation and then eat out of the kitchen for the rest of the week. I haven't run the numbers yet to see if a DDP would save us any money.

The split stay is actually where DVC members have an advantage, because there is no ticket purchase requirement. If you book through CRO and want the dining plan for both parts of a split stay, you need to buy another ticket.

Is there any restriction on the DVC Dining plan in terms of using a table service credit for Candlelight Processional Packages?
I don't see why there would be but someone has told me there is. They based it on DDP pdf as listed on the dvc part of the disney website but I am confused as I can't see anything in there excluding it :confused3

There is no difference between the DVC version and the regular cash DDP, except for DVC not having to purchase it with a park ticket package. Wherever the cash room DDP is accepted, the DVC DDP is accepted.

Thankyou!
