Dining Plan question for children for DVC stays?

I am staying at BCV in October by renting points from a DVCer (we are hoping to buy too, but want to test drive first).

Anyway, the cast for the trip is DH, me and twin 2 1/2 year olds. We are adding the Dining Plan for DH and I and I was wondering if I can add the DP for my twins even though they are under 3? I know I could if I was staying in a resort, I'd just have to pay for 1 day admission, but can you add them when staying DVC?

If you have already listed them as being 2, you may have some trouble getting them on the plan.

Some have had luck and others have not with getting a CM to do it. Technically, they are not entitled to be on the plan. Good luck!!!

Depending on where you plan to eat, it may not be that great of a deal anyway. They eat free at buffets (including character meals) and kids meals are pretty cheap as it is.

When our youngest was under 3 we purchased the DDP for him anyway - no one at MS gave us a hard time (why wouldn't WDW want to take more money ). He wasn't going to eat off our plate and we were sure he'd want his own meal like his older brothers. It was well worth it. I think it's $10.99 (?) now. A CS kid's meal is $4.99 + tax and a TS kid's meal is $7.59 + tax (give or take). You're already ahead of the game - plus it includes a snack. You will have to pay the tip as part of your TS meals but the taxes are included in the DDP fee.

You can do it, but are you sure it is worth it? I didn't put our son on the DDP when he was 2.5, and most of the time we were able to find something for him for much less than the $10 a day. It helped that he ate for free at several of the places we ate. Heck, even at Jiko, we didn't order him anything at all because nothing on the menu appealed to him, and the manager went next door to Boma and made him a free plate of things she thought would appeal to him. Seriously, cast members all over were very helpful with our little guy.

We did have him on the DxDDP once turned three, only because we had to buy it for him since we wanted it for ourselves. Really, it would have been cheaper to pay for him out of pocket, but at least we were able to find him things he would eat most of the time. He is one of the main reasons we are doing the TiW instead of the DxDDP these days.

I think it will be worth it because we will have 2 children both under 3. I don't think there will be enough food for both of them to eat off our plates and we'd have to buy them a drink plus snack throughout the day too.

If Disney allows it, we'll be adding them.

I can't imagine why they would say No. You are basically saying, yes I know my kids can eat for free, but I want to pay for them anyway. Of course they are going to take your money. They would be crazy not to.

We did it when our son was 1.5 and we didn't have to pay for a day admission. They just put his dining credits on our room key/park pass and he still got in all the parks for free. We thought it was worth it too. He only wanted to eat certain kid foods and then we could order what we wanted without worrying if there would be something that he would eat. Also, at the counter service restaurants, they would substitute grapes or a yogurt for the desert with the kids meals which was great.
