Does anyone know if you are allowed to order the combos (Shirmp and chicken or Steak and chicken) on the dining plan at Teppan Edo? TIA Michelle

Last time we were there (Oct 2010) DH was able to get the steak and chicken no problem! :thumbsup2

Yes you can.

The only thing to remember about Teppan Edo is that if you are on the regular plan, soup and salad are not included. If you're on the deluxe you can get one or the other as your appetizer.

Thanks we are just on the regular plan so I'll keep that in mind..

I just had to log in to post to this thread. I have to share with you that after being on the dining plan 3 or 4 times that Teppan Edo was our worst dining experience. I have eaten in Japanese steakhouse restaurants many times and this was the worst. First I ordered tempura appetizer with shrimp(sorry I can't remember the prices but it was high) and I rec'd a basket with 4 or 5 pieces. I offered my friend some and he picked one of the shrimps. Well lo and behold it was the ONLY shrimp. I had 1 piece of shrimp, 1 pc of zuchinni, 1 pc of broccoli and I believe it was a pc of sweet potato. Ok fine, dinner is coming.

We both ordered steak and shrimp. After the cook prepared the shrimp cutting them in little bits like 3 pcs per shrimp we had approximately 2 whole shrimp each. No butter used at this rest AT ALL only oil (cheap). Ok on to the steak, I order steak med rare. Chef cut up all the steak and dished it out. We rec'd 5 to 6 bites of VERY tough steak. Now remember, there NO soup or NO salad served and NO veggies cooked for your plate. Just rice with nothing in it but OIL and soy.

Dessert time. They had 2 choices and one was ice cream, the other was something like chai tea cake or something. I ordered ice cream and guess what??? It was ICE MILK!! Ice milk from a soft serve machine, approx 1/4 cup. The clear kind that tastes like water with sugar and van flavoring. Hey I love soft serve and hand scooped but ice milk is a very cheap substitute. I guarantee there was NO cream or milk in that "ice cream".

They were nice and friendly and put on the "show" the food was EXTREMELY subpar and I am going to assure you that we are in no way food snobs nor pickey (pinto beans and cornbread can satisfy me) but this was terrible. Our bill was over 100.00 (FD plan) and we all left hungry and saying we'd never go back. Please beware. I think if we had to go back we'd eat in the dining area where you order dishes and not at the "steak" grill.

Yup, you can get the combos for your meal using the DDP. Last time, I ordered the steak/chicken combo and had a HUGE amount of food. Lots of pieces of steak and chicken, plus the chef makes the noodles/veggies on the grill, plus bowls of white rice.

Sorry you had such a bad experience. We have always enjoyed our meals there.

Surprising, Teppan Edo is hands down our FAVORITE place to eat at WDW!

Sorry to hear about the bad experience but the positive reviews have me not worring.. :)

We also love Teppan Edo. When my DH got the steak and shrimp combo he got a whole steak, cut into pieces, but was a whole steak nonetheless. He also got quite a bit of shrimp. We all got a bowl of rice, dipping sauces, noodles and vegetables. There was chocolate ginger cake, ice cream or green tea pudding for dessert. I may be missing a few things, but it we got a lot of food.

When I read posts like this I often wonder is the poster trying to scare the reader or do they really remember it this way. According to your post you got a plate with 2 shrimp and 5 or 6 bites of steak and a lump of rice. According to the menu every dinner comes with season veggies and noodles.

If you did not receive these why didn't you talk to the server or the mgr. I am not saying that you are lying, I am simple saying that maybe you were having a bad day and remembered it wrong. I mean how did the chef make the onion volcano if there were no veggies?

The food has always been excellent and there has been enough to satisfy everybody in our party of 6. BTW the Chocolate Ginger cake was quite good.

Part of the reason we'd like to go here too is : we got engaged in our local Japanese Shogun restaurant and since we are celebrating a very belated Honeymoon we thought it would be nice to sort of recreate that night while in Disney. :)

I am sure there will be plenty of food - with or without the combo I know my hubby will want the steak/chicken combo as he always gets that (hee hee creature of habit!) and depending on how hungry I am will depend on if I get the shrimp/chicken combo or just the shrimp for my meal..

We really enjoyed Teppan Edo, but we don't have a hibachi style restaurant where we live. I found the portions to be "just right" compared to other Disney restaurants where I eat far too much. Everything tasted fresh and had a lot of flavour when using the dipping sauces.
