Dining Plan & Alcohol Question...

I have two questions about the dining plan that I'm hoping some of you can answer for me:

1) If you get a QS meal from a resort food court, is there a way to get the alcoholic beverage that comes with your meal to come from the pool bar instead of inside the food court? For example, when staying at POFQ in October I'd really like to get a New Orleans dish from inside and a hurricane to go with it at the pool bar.

2) If I were to order a kids meal for myself, can I get an alcoholic beverage with it? For example, if I want chicken nuggets (which the POFQ food court does not have an adult portion of) but would like a beer with it, can I do that? I know that the kids menu says ages 3-9 but I also know that they allow adults to get them without question. This would only be if I were getting a kids menu item for myself, I wouldn't be trying to add it to the meals for my kids (don't need a drink that bad...lol).

I'm just trying to figure out how I can get the most bang for my buck since we are paying so much for the DDP in the first place.

No, the drink has to be ordered with the meal. You might see if the pool bar will "order" the dish for you from inside. It's worth an ask while you're there if you get the plan.

As to the kid's meal, again, you'll probably have to ask.

Alcohol is not included in a child’s meal, the booze would cost more than the entire price of the child’s meal

Ask about an adult portion of the tenders.

Is the pool bar a participating location on the Quick Service restaurant list?
You'd be using an adult QS credit not a child QS credit if you expect to redeem an alcoholic beverage with the meal.
It will probably cost less to just buy the child's portion of chicken nuggets out of pocket, save your dining credit for when you are really maximizing it.

I thought about that too, but QS credits are not divided by child and adult....so I think if you order a kids meal there is no way they are giving you an alcoholic drink with it.

The bar is not a qs location, unlike some of the deluxe resort pool bars. I don’t think this will work

I see what you are saying, like in your inventory of points to use. But as you said, if you cash it in for something on the child's menu, they wouldn't be serving you an alcoholic beverage with it. And the dining plan does actually have different prices for children and adults as Pumbaa already mentioned, and that was my point as well.

As far as I remember, the food court does NOT have alcohol options and the bar is NOT covered by Dining Plan.

So no to your first question and no to your second.

Dining credits are the "best bang for your buck" when you are using them for Table Service or Character Dining.

To get the "bang for your buck", definitely do not order a kids' meal! As others have said, the CS meals are not distinguished between child and adult.

And no, unless the bar also serves meals, like at the BWI bar, you can't get the drink from there. It must be one transaction.

I thought they had single beer cans and single serving of wines in the cooler area. Am I wrong about that? If so, then you are definitely right about it being a no to both. I'm pretty sure it's a no to both anyway at this point. Now I'm wondering if I'm wrong about what is in the cooler area. Tried to look up google images of their cooler section but people don't seem to take pictures of them. Lol! Can't say that I blame them, they aren't very interesting.

I'm sure you did. There is no "food court" at Disneyworld that doesn't have beer and wine available (the Boardwalk Bakery doesn't, but it's not a true food court, and you can get beer and wine from the pizza window).
