Dining Plan Advice

Ok....long story short. We are going next June 8-13 and my in-laws are going with us. There are 5 in my family--me, DH, and 3 teenage DD's.

I am debating on whether we should purchase the dining plan or not. We rented points through an owner and they are willing to add the dining plan for us if we want.

I know it will probably be hot and a strong possibility they will need breaks. Do you think it would be worth it to get this? I do know if I do not get the dining plan we will still be doing 2 sit down ts meals--with one being 'Ohana and the other Sci-fi (my dh likes it here). We would probably also hit up Rainforest Cafe but I have gc's for this.

Does anyone see any benefit of this or should I just stick with cs and pay oop for the sit down meals?

Only a couple of us are big dessert eaters.

To determine whether or not the dining plan would work for you, you need to look at the menus(allears.net) of the restaurants where you want to eat to price out what your meal would cost. The restaurants you have mentioned would take 1 TS if you were on the dining plan.

Based on the price of the DDP this year, the meal budget is roughly QS=$12, TS=$35, S=$4. For the TS, you get an entree, dessert and beverage or buffet. If you are not going to spend those amounts for each type of meal or snack, you will lose money using the dining plan.

For me the DDP isn't as much about value as it is convenience. I enjoy having that "all inclusive" feel to my trip. If my dd6 wants popcorn she gets it, of I want to stop and get a taco dog I get it. Just my take on the whole DDP thing. It is just once less thing to worry about and budget for since your food is paid for before your first rope drop.

Thanks! I printed off many different menus and had everyone pick what they would order without worrying about cost. Now I have to go run through and tally. However I have found that with most of them they don't want to pick a dessert so it's probably not going to be a good thing for us.
