Dining plan a savings if you use AAA for meal discounts instead?

We eat 3 meals for sure. But a hotdog is a meal to us. Not big on dessert but occasional hearty dinner (or even breakfast) for sure. One character dining for sure. Will AAA make up for any potential lost savings?

Not sure what to do. :(
:confused3

The restaurants in Disney do not offer AAA discounts (there are a select few in the Swan and Dolphin hotels and at Dowtown Disney, but not at any of the other Disney resorts or parks). I usually book the DDP plan and pkg @ AAA so that I get the discount on the room and the DDP on top of it. If you book directly through Disney, you have to pay rack rate for the room w/ the pkg for the DDP... but if you go to AAA, they will discount the room and add in the DDP. I saved a bit over $400 for this upcoming August

AAA saved me some money too on room and DDP...around $250..(2 adults 7 days) that's as if one adult gets the DDP for free!

AAA gave me a quote yesterday for a December trip. I did not include the DP in the quote. The difference in price was about $250. So you are saying if I buy the DP through AAA, I will get a discount on that too? Thanks so much!

Do I understand this right...you book your hotel and DDP through AAA/ What is the discount %? Do you get your tickets through them too and are they discounted? Is this on the internet or do you have to go to AAA?

If you use AAA, you get the discount off the room portion of the package. Only the room rate is discounted. If you get the DDP, you still pay the standard charge for it, but the room itself is discounted.

The exact discount varies, depending on the resort and season you go. But for 8 nights at the Poly during value season, we're saving about $400. Again, the amount is going to vary, and any discounts are only off the room portion of the package.

There are only so many AAA room only and AAA packages available at each resort. Depending on when you check it is possible that one isn't availalbe.

If wdw offers free dining in september, could you book a discounted room through AAA and get free dining? Is this a way around the one-or-the-other thing?

It's a one-or-the other type of thing.... I know some dis'ers claim to have gotten both, but Disney would not allow both so it may have slipped through the cracks in some instances..... as my AAA agent always says-no "double-dipping" on discounts allowed :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
