Dining options under the new 2005 packages

This would be a good deal for us, if we could get it without buying the package deal. We have AP's, wonder if they're going to give us any new dining options in 2005?

I'm easily confused. This is like the Silver Plan, Gold Plan, Romance Plan, and all that, right? From the Disney website, it looks like there is a lot more you can customize with it. I tried to book a mock vacation but I stopped when they wanted to verify my billing address, but I didn't see the options before that menu.

It won't be on the bookings site until they start accepting reservations for the new plan - Jan 02.
Apparently the whole bookings site will be revamped, so that can't hurt!

I think it's a good deal. For $35/adult and $10/child, you get:

* One table service meal- includes appetizer, entrée, dessert, non-alcoholic beverage and gratuity/service charge

* One counter service meal- includes entrée and non-alcoholic beverage, or full combo meal: entrée, side dish and non-alcoholic beverage

* One snack- such as a snack-cart ice cream, box of popcorn, or medium soft drink at select counter-service and snack-cart locations

On Mousesavers, they list the restaurants. The table service meals can be traded for a character meal. Two table service meals can be traded for one signature meal like California Grill or Hoop-De-Doo.

Alfredo's was listed as a signature meal, but Le Cellier is listed as a table service meal. I thought that was strange. I always thought Alfredo's prices were very reasonable for sit down meals.

Yes, I'm confused... I've booked a room for the last week of January...do I need to rebook to get this dining advantage? Will they let me keep my discounted room or will I have to pay rack rate? And Cinderella's Royal Table was listed as a dinner option but not breakfast...so would I have to pay separately for that meal? It took some doing to snag a breakfast and it would be great to have it under the plan...
I think this is going to be a bear trying to get through on 1/2 and get all these questions answered...

Does anyone know if the new dinning plan will allow breakfasts for counter service? Not character buffets but like breakfasts at the resort food courts.

The only thing i dont like is that only one dining option is listed for DTD.

I wonder if they would limit you to a set menu if on the dining plan for MYW dining . I pretty sure you can't order a filet and lobster tail as an entree. Any ideas?

I'm wondering that too as what is included is definitely lunch/dinner items and I didn't see it say what would be included as a breakfast (like Silver/Gold said juice/entree/hot beverage or full breakfast buffet type of thing).

However, it does say you can trade 1 table service for a Character meal, so I'm assuming you could do a Character breakfast with it?!?!

But not so sure you could go to the counter service area and get a breakfast meal with it.

I think this is one of those questions that will be answered once training has started, I hope.

Wow what a great deal. Even with combining the options to use our beloved signature restaurants. This will be a real money-saver for our family.

Oh, I don't know, you could on the Silver plan for a Wish which I think I had read averaged out to $38/wish?? So, I would imagine you could order whatever you wanted as the entree on the dining plan too, since they limit how many table services you are going to get. Just my thinking though. :earboy2:

I called Disney dining this morning. Mousesavers shows the price for juniors (ages 10-17) as $35. Ten and eleven year olds are still able to order off the kids menu but disney is charging $35 per day for them. Disney dining didn't know anything about it - no pricing info was available for CM that I called.

Doesn't make sense why they would charge adult prices for a child who can still order off the kiddie menu. :jumping4:

On first glance (which could be wrong, I was going cross-eyed looking at the pdf file), it looks like RFC - one of the better "deals" on the Silver plan - isn't included it all anymore.

You are correct, RFC is not on there.

Doing the math it seems that this could definitely be a good deal, especially if you like to get appetizers and desserts with your meal. It seems like a great deal for kids - $10 a day. No more guilt about them not eating much at a Character meal.

For the kids it is a GREAT bargain. BUT here are the kickers:

You have to buy the dining option with a package. This means you would have to re-book your hotel and from what I am being told (but nothing confirmed) your hotel would jump to rack rate. No info will be available until January 2. The CM I spoke to today said they aren't even being trained on MYW for another two weeks.

Everyone in your hotel room has to have the same options - you can't have the dining for your child and not for everyone else.

I do think you can use the counter service for breakfast - I haven't seen anything to indicate that you couldn't.

For us, if our hotel rate goes up and our park passes go up (which they would for four day park hoppers) then we would have to eat a lot of very expensive food to come out ahead. Yes, two adults and a child will spend more than $80 per day on food, which is what the dining option would cost. BUT by the time we factor in what we would pay for the increased ticket and hotel rates we aren't saving that much. I think we will be doing the "burger share" and "split a large soda" deal as opposed to the dining option!

I agree, it all depends on how much those packages are. The rough package prices on Deb's site don't look too bad for our trip, but those aren't final and those are for Value resorts. Time will tell! :)

Someone's already mentioned RFC - Fulton's and Portobello aren't listed either:( Neither is Victoria and Albert's:( I'm glad we got to do the Platinum Plan this year!!
