Hi All,
I figured I would go straight to the experts for this one.....
Husband & I will be in Disney the week before Easter, staying at the Boardwalk Inn, right now we have the Deluxe Dining Plan & all our dinner ADR's are made but since I can't stop obsessing over our trip I keep tweaking things. We haven't made our final payment yet-is it too late to switch to the Regular Dining Plan? At home our favorite way to dine is to go out & have drinks & apps at lounges, etc which we can't do on the ddp.

So, our thought is to switch to the regular dining plan from the deluxe & use those meals for b'fast & lunch & then do lounge crawls for our dinners & pay OOP for those. We could do an Epcot crawl, a monorail crawl, a Swan & Dolphin crawl, etc. We would just put the difference between the 2 dining plans on a gift card so there wouldn't be a huge credit card bill later on.

Does this make sense or should we stick with what we have? Opinions please!!
Thanks in advance!!!!

You can change your package with no penalty up until 45 days before your check-in date.

If your favourite way to dine is drinks & apps then the dining plans in general are probably not the best way to go. You can dine much cheaper and exactly the way you want (meals for breakfast and lunch then lounge crawls for dinner) without a dining plan.

I agree with clanmcculloch on this one.

Your TS credit is worth roughly $37.50 including tax. You'll be hard pressed to find breakfasts and dinners that will "cost" you this much. AND your QS credit is around $17. There aren't any breakfasts that will fill that bill.

If you want to do the crawls, OOP will be cheaper than any dining plan.

Just think about it. The DxDDP costs you $105. Even if you do TS for breakfast and lunch at $30 each (and that's being generous), you still have $40 EACH for apps and drinks.

Thanks Guys,
Seeing it in print makes it clearer, it's just that we always did the deluxe dining plan & it worked for us, table service, appetizers, paid in advance.... But for this trip I don't think we want to be as tied down as we have been before, always checking the time to make sure we don't miss our adr's. But then again, it is really nice to relax & unwind after a fun day at the parks, ugh!!! Thanks again for the advice, I'll do some more menu searching/planning & make our decision. I'm also sure I'll have more questions, many, many more questions.........:)
