I was wondering if anyone can give me some dining places at any of the parks that should just not be missed. We are leavining in 13 days with my parents and our 3 kids (ages 9, 8, & 5). Thanks.
P.s.
I was also wondering about the awesome countdown counters many of you have on the bottom of you posts. Where do you get those?

Our favorite character meal is the Garden Grill, but it is closed to ready the Land for Soarin'. That said, we have heard Liberty Tree Tavern (MK) is a good meal with characters. We also enjoy Crystal Palace for breakfast.

We love Le Cellier and Teppanyaki at Epcot. Our kids are 11 and 14. They have loved those for years. We always include those on our trips.

Outside the parks, we love Kona Cafe at the Poly for breakfast. The Tonga Toast is my fav and I go there every trip!

Welcome tot he Dis, momofthree! We are glad you found us.

You can find directions on how to add a countdown timer to your signature, along with other great info on our tech support board here. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2770

As for our favorite restaurants in the parks, we really enjoy Mama Melrose at MGM for lunch or dinner and the Main St Bake shop for breakfast at MK. That does sound limited, but we have found the majority of our favorite restaurants are found in the resorts, not the parks.

I like Liberty Tree Tavern...a great character meal for all ages of the family.

To get a countdown timer, click into the Technical Support board and look for the thread "Get your countdown timers here." It includes instructions and you do a test post on that thread. Good luck!

I absolutley agree with the Mama Melrose recommendation. If we ever have the chance to go back to WDW with park hoppers I would go to MGM just to eat there. Best Italian food I have ever had!

For the ages of your children I would also suggest the character meals (saves all that waiting in lines for pics and autographs) and the Rainforest Cafe either at DTD or AK. Oh and don't forget about the restaurants at the resorts and DTD. Many of those are quite a bit better than the ones at the parks.

Thanks to all who listed someplace to eat. They all sound yummy and we can't wait to try.

1 Crystal Palace for Pooh characters and good food. MK
2 Sci fi cafe for the kids, you sit in cars w old movies on theater screen. MGM
3 50"s Prime Time Cafe for family fun and good food. MGM
4 Boma if you like delicious, different food, many choice, good wine and coffee. At AKL so lots of fun for the kids, you can check out the animals.
:flower1: Have a fabulous trip.

You probably ought to call and get Priority Seating arrangments for those character meals. Even though it's a slow time of year, they fill up.

Welcome to the DISboards!

i'll cast another vote for teppenyaki in epcot japan. so much fun for kids cos they cook right in front of you and the chefs do crazy tricks and are very comically, plus the food is tasty & very memorable.
also, i would recommend boma for breakfast in animal kingdom lodge. there is a ton of food at this buffet, both traditional and special, and the atmosphere is amazing.

I agree with most other posts but I would ad Whispering Canyon for dinner. We had the BBQ skillet and really enjoyed it. The resturant is great fun and the food is great.

In the Magic Kingdom the best of the sit down restaurants is Liberty Tree Tavern. If you go for lunch it is ala carte, and no characters. Dinner is a character meal with Goofy, Minnie and friends served family style. Another good place for a nice relaxing lunch is the Plaza Restaurant. Great sandwiches and burgers, and save room for those wonderful ice cream desserts. (sandwiches are huge, so if you like the dessert, you may want to share!)

In Epcot there are more restaurants that I like than not.
We love Garden Grille... it is our favorite character meal, unfortunately it will be closed while you are there as they are doing construction in the Land Pavillion in preparation for the new attraction Soarin'
If you like to watch the fish swim while you eat, you may like Coral Reef. We found it to be delicious, but quite pricey.
Le Cellier-- has a nice steak dinner, but we actually like it for lunch. Great burger, delicious appetizers, salads, and the Cheddar Cheese Soup with Pretzel Bread is wonderful!

Mitsukoshi Tempanyaki--- great food! Watch the Japanese chefs prepare your food from prep to service.

Alfredos--- Northern Italian is the specialty here. Nice atmosphere and great service, but again, somewhat pricey. You may want to try it for lunch, to keep the prices down.

Nine Dragons--- go for a late lunch. Service is great, and when there for the lunch, the prices tend to be less.

Disney MGM---
my first choice would be lunch at 50's Prime Time Cafe. If your family has a good sense of humor, and you like good family style cooking this place is for you. Again, lunches are less expensive.

Mama Melrose--- we have good success with large parties here. The food is good, and there are plenty of appetizers that can be shared among your party. YOu may want to consider this for your Fanstasmic Dinner Package.

Resorts-
'Ohana at the Polynesian.... a great time for the whole family. The food is fantastic and just keeps coming. Service is good, the view from there is good, nice tropical drinks and the kids will love the hoola hoop contest and the coconut races.

Yachtsman Steakhouse--- if you are looking for an upscale dinner and a melt in your mouth steak, you may find it at this restaurant, located in the Yacht Club, one of the Epcot Resorts. We went, just the 2 of us, but we saw many with kids in tow, and they seemed to be enjoying themselves (some had their Gameboys with them, though!;))

1900 Park Fare--- for the most delicious breakfast on property, this is the place to go. Wonderful buffet with tons of options for young and old, an omelet station, so you can tell the castmember exactly what you want in your omelet. The service is great, and the character interaction is THE BEST!

Cape May Cafe--- a great place to gather a nice large family. Great choices on the buffet for both seafood fans, and landlubbers. The dessert table is NOT to be missed! Very nice relaxing atmosphere.

Hope this gives you some food for thought...oh, I didn't say that did I?

I would suggest that momofthree look over the menus at allearsnet.com. This will make deciding where to eat somewhat easier.
There are SO MANY great places to eat at WDW. Knowing the menus is a very helpful.

I don't know about the OP, but eeyore0062 has sold us on the 1900 Park Fair breakfast! We're going on Valentine's Day.

Thanks for the suggestion!

We loved to eat at the Plaza reaturant at MK. It is a little more money than counter service and the food is great. It is pretty fast and they have the beat salad I have ever had. They also serve ice cream. I get sick of getting up and down at buffets so it is nice to sit back for a nice sandwich and icecream. It is on main street on the right when facing the castle on the corner right before the bridge.

I will definitely cast a vote for OHana at the Polynesian....it's great fun for adults and kids and I love the food!

:flower1: I laughed when I read your message cause I knew you would get many different reply's with many different restaurants. Guess you'll just need to extend your vacation a couple weeks to try them all!!! :flower1:

My favorite place to eat at the MK is Crystal Palace. We did lunch and it was really good. At Epcot it is Biergarten. We love German food and my kids who were 6 and 14 mths at the time loved the band. I have never tried Mama Melrose at MGM but would love to. Our favs at resorts are Boma at AKL and Ohana's at the Poly.

Hard decisions because there are so many good restaurants. But our favorites are Boma's at Animal Kingdom Lodge, LeCellier in Cananda at Epcot, Kona Cafe at the Polynesian and "Ohana's at the Polynesian and Prime Time Cafe at MGM.
Good luck.
