Dining During Not-So-Scary (w/o a ticket!)

We'll be at the MK during the day of one of the dates of MNSSHP. I understand we'll have to leave the park at 7 as we don't have a ticket for that event.

However, we do have dining reservations at 7:15 at Libery Tree Tavern (it was a last-minute switheroo and we weren't even scheduled to go to the MK that day and quite honestly this change - stemming from another party - is nearly enough to push me over the edge, but I digress.)

Will we be able to keep those reservations or will we be asked to leave since we won't have the necessary wristbands? If we are allowed to stay, how uncomfortable will we be made to feel since we don't have the wristbands?

We'll leave right afterwards - again, I get it - just wondering if we're going to have the spotlights shone on us like we're trespassing. I have the Donald Sutherland version of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" in my head.

Thanks in advance.

Did you get book online and get this message: Please note that this reservation occurs during a special event that requires the purchase of a separate admission ticket.

So no, sorry, you won't be allowed to keep your ADR for anything after 7pm unless you have a ticket.

I did get that message but was also told by a Dreams Unlimited agent that as long as we were in before 7 we should be okay, so I'm not sure what to believe.

With that in mind I grabbed a reservation a few minutes earlier. That should still put us IN the restaurant after 7. No message when I booked. Will that res get me a tapping on the shoulder in mid-bite?

I'm only half-kidding. Just wondering how uncomfortable they'll make us. I can't find anything out of the parks around that time to eat at instead.

That would be the safest thing to do, would hate for you to get there and be turned away.

I don't think they will bother you as long as you are eating and not obviously stalling. You may get a reminder that when you finish you will be asked to leave the park.

I know last year at the counter service restaurants at 7pm they were asking people to finish and move on out of the park.

Did you try the Captain's Grille at the Yacht Club, we have had good luck getting ADRs there and love the food.

Nope, haven't tried that, thanks!

I think it would be easier on the kids to NOT be in the park at the time since we can't stay, you know? We'll be doing it (MNSSHP) a few nights later, but still. How do you tell them that? If they know we're leaving to go to dinner that should be okay.

Little buggers should be nice and worn out by then. ;)

My understanding is that you cannot stay in the park beyond 7 even if you have a reservation. The CMs on the phone tell you you must have party tickets to make a reservation from 7 onward. Earlier this year, some CMs on the dining line were telling people they couldn't make reservations even earlier than that w/o tickets (like 6 PM or 5:30 or something - there was a thread about it, of course).

The ONLY way I could see it possibly working is to be inside the restaurant before 7 PM (and they might even refuse to seat you with a 7:15 and no party ticket). Or better, make a reservation somewhere else or earlier than 7.

Based on previous years, if your reservation is for any time after 7pm and you do not have tickets you will NOT be seated.

I made my ADRs online and the one "a few minutes earlier" is really around 6:30. So that puts us in before 7, but I would think we'd still be eating at 7 and I fear being "tagged," kwim? I don't have plans for funny business or staying when we shouldn't. I just wanted a nice place to sit down and eat before the others in our party went their separate way (we're only seeing them for the day) and I couldn't find anywhere else to eat.

I imagine I'll change them, but we've never encountered this before and I didn't know how it would be handled. I'm envisioning "character" bouncers...which seems very un-Disneylike. ;)

Most likely, when you are finished with your meal, you will be escorted out of the park by a CM. They will simply be making sure you do exit.

Sadly, people do try to cheat the system and stay even if they have not payed. This means Disney has to escort diners out and block the bathrooms from those without tickets.

If you have a reservation after the party's start time you need to have admission to the party.

If it's before the start time, but you finish after the start time, you'll need to leave the park when you finish. If you are not in a counter service restaurant I do not think they will push you to leave the restaurant, and I don't think you have to worry that they will send villain characters or something to bounce you, but when you leave the restaurant you would need to head for the exit. Once a CM sees that you are not wearing party wristbands, they will tell you that you need to exit the park. I don't know what "tagged" means. If you are asking will anyone approach you and notify you that you need to move toward the exit, that might well happen. Will they scream "interloper" and drag you to the exit, no.

If you think you will not be able to explain to your children that you must leave the park after dinner, then maybe arrange to eat in a resort or another park.
