My family and I have gone to Disney tons of times but have always stayed at our time share, this is the first time that we will be staying on property. We are going Aug 24-31. We have two kids 11& 14. We are trying to decide if we should buy the dining plan or not. Can you please give us your opinions and reason on whether or not to buy or not to buy the dining plan. Thanks so much!

I've had the dining plan when we've gone during "free" dining. For our family its just too much food. We usually end up having meals leftover at the end of our trip.

I find we do better by just paying out of pocket for our meals. We eat breakfast in our room (cereal, fruit, yogurt, etc.) and we tend to share meals. Our last trip was in August and it was so hot no one really wanted to eat a big meal with dessert. We ate light and snacked more.

If you're all big eaters and like to eat dessert with every meal and tend to order the most expensive things on the menu or if you are doing a lot of character meals you may do better or break even on the dining plan.

You can go to www.allears.net and price things out. The menus for most of the places are posted there.
