Dining Credit question

Hi
Do you just tell the server at the end of the meal how many dining credits you would like to use.
For example if we are a family of 4 and we order 3 meals and just a drink or appetizer for one of our kids can we tell the server we would like to pay for the appetizer and drink OOP and deduct 3 dining credits?

Just wasn't sure if you have a reservations for 4 you have to order 4 meals.

You need to tell them ahead of time, not at the end of the meal. When you order your meal, they will ask if you are on the dining plan. In the old days ( a few years ago), they asked to see your KTTW card. Not sure how it works now with the MBs.
