Dining Choices - January 1 and 2

We will be doing two commando-style days on January 1 and 2. Knowing that we will need a break from the crowds mid-day, we'd like to pre-set dining options. We are a family of 5 (kids are 10, 13 and 14) and our kids are not exactly adventurous when it comes to food. We want to stay in the parks, and don't really have the need to pay for character meals.

Suggestions?

To me Character Meals are not a break, but that's just me. Blue Bayou is a nice break, though not cheap. French market is another good option, though since it's outdoors can be good depending on the weather. Jolly Holiday is a nice place, but outdoor seating again. In DCA we enjoy Smokejumpers Grill and for a nice sit down at Lamplight Lounge. We found LL very relaxing and a nice view of the rides during our meal.

I enjoy Carnation Cafe. Relatively cheap compared to the other sit down restaurants and feels very "original Disney."

I know you said in the parks but ... if you are looking for a sit down meal on a day you are in CA Adventure, I recommend the Craftsman Bar at the Grand Californian. It is a quick hop out of the park and has a relaxing vibe while still being a sit down place (I mean its next to the pool!) https://disneyland.disney.go.com/dining/grand-californian-hotel/craftsman-bar/menus/ The menu has items that even picky eaters will like.
