There's a ding fare Buffalo to Orlando for Jan 1-31st for $34-$39 if anyone can use it.

You beat me to it, I just saw it! Boy I wish we could fit in 2 trips this year!

Hey - that's what I was coming to do - what a smokin deal!!!!!

I really need something like this - Feb 8-15th - this one is just a few weeks short!!! Oh well.

When did you get the DING? I have DING downloaded, but haven't received any notice only the notice for last nights specials? What time do the expire? ::MinnieMo

Oops :rotfl: I just got the DING now!!!!! :rotfl2:

I saw it too and couldn't believe that it applied to our end-of-January trip, where I got the $49 Ding a few weeks ago. I noticed that there were still those $49 seats available too.

I cancelled and rebooked and saved US$52.80!!

Way to go Julie. We are going Feb 2-7 so it's just a few days short. I'm hoping that they have a great ding for Feb. I debated going in January but since we went in December though that January was just way too soon.

Hi all. I'm new to this Ding thing... what time of day do they post the fares? Thank you!

Fiona, I'm calling this my pre-birthday treat since my birthday is Feb 2, right when you'll be there! We'll be there Jan 26-30.

lorilori, it seems to me that Ding fares could be released at any time, so I just keep an eye out for a message flag on the SW icon in my lower status bar.

Is there any danger of missing out on getting your seats as you cancel original flight and rebook the DING?? That's my biggest worry is having to cancel original flights first before rebooking DING!

Go to southwest.com and download DING it's there program for letting customers know when they've put on a sale.

If you are going to rebook, you can open 2 windows to do the transaction. I don't believe they will do it over the phone. Have your original booking up ready to cancel and the Ding fare window open ready to book it.

When you say $49.00 for a flight from Buffalo how much extra are the taxes. I just paid a fortune for my tickets from Toronto to Orlando. Just wondering for this might be an idea for next time.

We went on Air Tran out of Buffalo in November. 5 tickets were about $110 each, for an exact total of $548 and then taxes were added. here is the breakdown;

Air Fare 548.80
Federal Excise Tax 41.20
Federal Segment Tax 64.00
Airport Passenger Facility Charge 75.00
September 11th Security Fee 50.00
Ticket Total 779.00

this is all in USD so just under $1000 CDN. I priced it out of Toronto and it was going to be $1800-2000.

I would certainly fly out of Buffalo again. I'm not sure I would do it in Dec, Jan, Feb given the awful weather they can get which often isn't quite as bad in Toronto.

When we went this past January it was $25 each way and then another $25 in taxes for a total of $75 each person!

We just went in December and the fare was $37 each way. Total with taxes for 2 was $221.00 US. We priced it out of Toronto and it would have been $1400 -- with worse times for us. No brainer to drive to Buffalo.

We flew last January for $29 each way and the total with taxes for 2 was $170 US. Their taxes are nothing compared to ours.

The weather has not been an issue for us and we are flying again in February although I'm still waiting for a great DING for that one.

Fiona, our fares for 2 with this latest $39 DING worked out to only $178. in US dollars. I think you were referring to Canadian dollars? ;)

>>were referring to Canadian dollars?

No, I think that the amount is correct. The price variance is because we had to stop and transfer in BWI on the way down, and on the way back, it was the same plane but a continuation of the flight, so we essentially took four flights to get there and home from Buffalo; we had to pay taxes and stuff that non-stops don't pay.

Jim.
