We just got back last night and we had reservations for Dine with Shamu at Seaworld. The dinner was good I thought, DH didn't care for it much and "expected" much better food for the $$$. But I thought it was very good and my kids were SO excited. It was nice to see up close the interactions between Shamu and the trainers and Shamu even kind of swims close to the tables and opens his mouth so my kids said "Oh look he is happy to see us!!" Lol...
Anyway, WWYD in this situation, at the end of the meal, the waiter approached our table and put a plastic tray on the table and says "This is my tip tray so you can leave me a tip" we were shocked that he said anything at all!!! OF course we always leave a tip!!DH was a bit taken aback by it, we did leave a tip but has anyone encountered a situation like that? OF course, our initial shock is over and we are giggling about it now, but geez, I never expected a waiter to ASK for a tip!!!

Because of the "show" nature of the meal there are a distressing number of people who don't understand that they still ought to tip. While it is a little gauche for a waiter to mention it, that may be the only way they manage to take home a living wage. I'd write it off as unfortunate that people are so dense he has to do that and let it go. :)
