DD did it a few years ago and loved it. She had lunch with the Imagineer who was in charge of the music for Rockin' Roller Coaster. They chose lunch from a limited menu which included dessert and received a beautiful black plate with the Imagineering logo and it was signed by the Imagineer. She also received the Brown Derby menu as a memento. I think the price for lunch was around $70 at that time.
DH did it in Jan....he had an imagineer that designed a lot of the Princess things...BBB, Pixie Hollow.
Ate in the Bamboo Room at Brown Derby. He loved the meal. There were 8 in his group.....lots of time for q&as. The lunch took about 2 1/2 hours.
he also received the signed plate.
He had a great time and wants to do it again.
I'll admit I'm a Disney Nut. This was a great new experience for me. The 3 hours I spent at the Brown Derby was worth it. Our imagineer was very funny, cordial and animated. He willing answered questions that he was allowed to (no trade secrets revieled) and we all kept up a livley discussion during our 3 course meal. It took place in a private dining room and the three hours went by very quickly. The little extra gifts were a nice touch. I think after taxes, it cost about $70.00. I would do it again without hesitation.
My DH just learned about this and would really love to do it, however we have a 8 and 6 year old. Is there an age limit to this or can anyone attend. I would send my DH to this by himself, but I would love to do it myself too.

According to some reports I have seen children are allowed at lunch, although it is recommended for ages 14 and up. However, you may have to consider whether young children will be able to sit through a two to three hour event consisting mostly of adults talking.
I read somewhere this morning that children 14 years old and up are permitted to attend. With that being said, I would never take my child to something like this. It is for grown ups, not kids.

Dine With an Imagineer
If you are interested in how Disney Imagineers create their magic, you may want to consider one of the special "Dine With an Imagineer" opportunities at Walt Disney World. There aren't any discounts available, but how often do you get to experience something like this? Also, you receive an exclusive plate for each member in the party, which is truly a unique souvenir.
The meals are limited to 8 guests plus an Imagineer (you may be seated with other parties if you have less than 8 people) and last a minimum of 90 minutes. While children are allowed to attend, Disney recommends this experience for guests 14 and older. Guests order from a special limited menu.
There are two options for dining with an Imagineer:
Lunch With an Imagineer - offered at 11:30 am most Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, in the private Bamboo Room at the Brown Derby in Disney's Hollywood Studios. Adult (10 and up) price is $60.99 plus tax and gratuity. Child (ages 3-9) price is $34.99 plus tax and gratuity.
Thanks for all the input, I may just send my DH as a surprise, he LOVES talking to CMs and finding out information about Disney....this would be totally up his alley.

Something else he may like is the Keys to the Kingdom tour at MK. We went on it a week ago and it was wonderful. It lasts about 5 hours with lunch included and you are on a guided tour through most of the lands and ride Jungle Cruise and Haunted Mansion. The backstage areas and the underground utilidors are part of the tour. Young children are not allowed. The price for that is $65 but there is a 20% discount when using Disney Visa.
Thanks Itinkso, that is another great idea. In fact, while he goes off and does the tour, my DDs and I can have a girls day in MK ...decisions, decisions.
