Hi everyone,

Has anyone done Dine with an Astronaut at Kennedy Space Centre? What was it like? Was it worth the extra cash? Any opinions?

We had breakfast with an astronaut one time. It was on a launch day and it seemed like a good idea as we had to be there really early and had lots of time to kill.

While it was very interesting hearing all about what the astronauts get up to (the astronaut did a little talk) the food was dreadful. It was buffet style and everything was wheeled through to a little side room so it was a bit chaotic and very basic.

There was also a Q&A session at the end of it and a photo op.

If you have someone who is mad about space and really, really wants to meet an astronaut then it might be worth the money. Otherwise, probably not.

We did the ultimate space pass option plus dine with an astronaut this past October and it was great. The behind the scenes tour and getting into the vehicle assembly building was awesome.

The dine we did was lunch and it was great the food was good/hot and plenty of choice. We had Fred Gregory who was acting head of NASA and a veteran of 3 shuttle missions (at least 3) what a really nice and interesting guy. We were lucky to be the last to get our photo with him so we got a couple of mins of one to one. If you are interested in the space programme then it is an absolute must. I'm just sorry it took us so long to go.
