Din Tai Fung- Dumpling House coming to new Downtown Disney

While exciting, I hope Disney realizes how popular this place is with the locals and in the morning.
Crowds in the morning for something at DTD has never happened.

I doubt it will be like the locations elsewhere simply due to the $10 parking fee for DtD. It will be popular for sure, but I don't see it being problematic.

Is DTD a dining/entertainment destination for locals? Or is it pretty much only used by those visiting the parks?

I’d also love to know this. I’m in LA so downtown Disney is not enough to draw me to Anaheim by itself but I’m curious if that’s the case with OC people nearby.

Never heard of this place before but I just looked it up. It looks amazing. And possibly super spendy. lol

That's a great point, I wonder if this will be known as the location with the shortest wait if you're willing to pay another $10 to skip the line. Wait...did Disney just Lightning Lane Ding Tai Fung? LOL

I think it varies. We live in Anaheim & have gone over during the week for dinner & a walk many times over the past few years. But we rarely go on weekends, due to crowds.

Good! A nice draw for people who love it and maybe more room in the restaurants I like :)

Surprisingly it's not when you consider other nice restaurants! Their SoCal Flagship is right by my house so we've been often, especially birthdays. And the bill there is usually less than other birthday restaurants. It's all about sharing dishes.

What's cool too is it's family-owned (my sister actually works with one of the sons (both lawyers) and he can bring in catering orders during Lunar New Year).

Love eating at the location at SCP. Always delicious, attentive staff, great cocktails! I think the DTD will be just as busy. How fun!

I just wish they would add in some quick, inexpensive place to replace Earl of Sandwich.
While I like Din Tai Fung, I can't really imagine myself ever eating at one in Downtown Disney. But I'm sure it'll have long lines, especially on the weekend.

EoS will almost definitely return.

I'm looking forward to take-out and eating said soup dumplings in my room, but there's no better feeling than gambling on the molten hot temperature of a soup dumpling and directly putting it in your mouth and biting down.

It's like Russian roulette with soup dumplings, hahah.
