While exciting, I hope Disney realizes how popular this place is with the locals and in the morning.
Crowds in the morning for something at DTD has never happened.
I’d also love to know this. I’m in LA so downtown Disney is not enough to draw me to Anaheim by itself but I’m curious if that’s the case with OC people nearby. Is DTD a dining/entertainment destination for locals? Or is it pretty much only used by those visiting the parks?

That's a great point, I wonder if this will be known as the location with the shortest wait if you're willing to pay another $10 to skip the line. Wait...did Disney just Lightning Lane Ding Tai Fung? LOLI doubt it will be like the locations elsewhere simply due to the $10 parking fee for DtD. It will be popular for sure, but I don't see it being problematic.
I think it varies. We live in Anaheim & have gone over during the week for dinner & a walk many times over the past few years. But we rarely go on weekends, due to crowds. Is DTD a dining/entertainment destination for locals? Or is it pretty much only used by those visiting the parks?
We do date nights at DTD on weeknights and weekends -- just depends on DH's work schedule. But we did weeknights more often when the AMC was still there.I think it varies. Surprisingly it's not when you consider other nice restaurants! Their SoCal Flagship is right by my house so we've been often, especially birthdays. And the bill there is usually less than other birthday restaurants. It's all about sharing dishes.Never heard of this place before but I just looked it up. It looks amazing. And possibly super spendy. lol
I just wish they would add in some quick, inexpensive place to replace Earl of Sandwich.
While I like Din Tai Fung, I can't really imagine myself ever eating at one in Downtown Disney. But I'm sure it'll have long lines, especially on the weekend.
