Dilemma, best way from Sanford to Disney

I did some quick searching but didn't really find anything. What is the best way to get from Sanford to Disney without renting a car and cost? Hear is our dilemma. We can fly out of our local airport (25 minute drive) and into Sanford for $191/person. If we fly from a major airport into MCO it will be around $232-$252/person. We will have to pay for parking or do a park and fly from from all but 1 airport. This one airport is the farthest but we have relatives who would take us since they live close to this airport(overall 3-3.25 hrs one way). However, the 4 major airports in our vicinity are 2-3.25 hours away. I like the convenience of getting off the plane and being home in a short time but if it is going to cost an arm and a leg to get from Sanford to Disney then I don't know if it is worth it.

We have never used Uber and I have read some things on hear that people don't like. Really not sure about them or even how they operate. Some insight would be nice on them as well if you have any opinions or can tell me how this Uber even works.

A taxi or car service will be around $200. Uber will be about half that.

Personally, I have a real problem with Uber's business practices, and don't feel comfortable recommending them. A quick google search will result in legitimate articles detailing the issues. Check it out and decide what you're comfortable with.

Figure on $200. (plus tip) Sanford is twice the distance from WDW that MCO is, with much less business for towncar companies. So, they have to recoup their costs. Renting a car is easy, as is the drive.

Thank you very much. I have a feeling it will all be about the same. I can fly cheaper but loose the savings in car rental or taxi service or fly more expensive, use DME, and have a 2-3.5 hour drive home.

Thanks. We have driven once from Sanford to WDW, didn't know about the tolls at that time and this was a surprise but it wasn't bad. The thing is, if we rent a car, it will just sit in the lot until our last day when we drive back. We won't drive to the parks as we always use the bus.

I'm not sure what airlines you're considering, but keep in mind that smaller airlines, like Allegiant, really, really hit you with the extra fees. Research carefully before jumping on those low fares.

You could always look into one way car rentals from SFB to WDW. Might be less expensive than taxi/car service, depending upon your situation.

The easiest would be Alamo or National. Pickup at SFB, drop at the Car Care Center (on the exit road out of Magic Kingdom) or the Dolphin. In the case of the CCC, they'll drop you anywhere on Disney property after you drop the car off (or they'll drop you at the 'Lost and Found' at the TTC, where you can pick up Disney transportation). When you're ready to head home, you would call the local Alamo/National office the day before you leave and tell them when and at which resort you'd like to be picked up and they'll take you to the CCC to get the rental. Its really pretty easy.

Of course, also price out keeping the car, even if you're not going to use it. Sometimes the roundtrip rentals are less expensive.

That is who we are looking at. We have flown with them before and I know they charge for baggage and carry on but it still is cheaper than the major carriers last time we flew with them.

We did this last time and only rented to get from Sanford to WDW. Cost was $29 and I dropped it off at the CCC. Thank you for the return info. I did not know about them picking you up and taking you to the CCC. We plan on checking both ways but unless I can get a car for 12 days under $100, I doubt we will rent the whole week.
