Here is the question that no cm can seem to answer.

we have 3day park hoppers with ddp now reserved, for our 3 night stay at CS.
We actually will be in Orlando, 2 days prior, staying at friends. We would like to:
1. Cancel the 3 day park hopper and ddp
2. Buy 5 day park hopper
3. Add ddp to the 3 night stay at CS when we arrive there.

No-one will tell us if this is possible?

Any "expert" advise from out Diser's please!!

First off who is going with you? If you are traveling with younger children IMO I would drop the park hopper. I have been twice and did not use it either time. The 1st time I paid for it and the 2nd time I opted not to purchase it. I think taking each park a day at a time is great and you will probably enjoy your trip more by pacing yourself instead of racing from park to park.

I personally love the DDP. I like not having to worry about spending money on food, it is already taken care of. The only thing you have to worry about is tip and if you choose to order dessert or an appetiser to pay for that on your own.

Also, how much time are you actually going to spend in your room. Maybe down grade to a Value Resort and save some money there and keep your Park Hopper and Dining Plan. I have stayed in a Mod and Value and honestly all we did was sleep and shower there. IMO why pay a for an expensive room, if you are never going to be there.

sounds like you want to get a five day hopper starting 2 days prior to check-in......am i understanding you correctly?
if so, the answer is unfortunately, no. the DDP is part of a package (which cannot be added at check-in, btw) including room, passes & DDP, all starting from time of check-in (you do not have to activate the passes at check-in if you don't want to tho).
however, if you wanted to stay at your friends for the 2 days following your resort stay, you could get a 5 day hopper at check-in for use during your stay & the 2 days afterward.
hth :)

We traveled with a 5yo and loved and needed the Park Hoppers. Our first park day was in MK (his first trip to Disney) and he asked to go there everyday; we took him. We did Wishes twice, first time he didn't do so well with the noise, next time he stayed and enjoyed the whole show. It was great seeing him develop before our eyes. Parkhoppers are also great for taking advantage of EMH. Let's say you take the littles ones back for swimming, naps and dinner. You are then ready to enjoy EMH that evening.

We love have the Park Hopper option when we go. It gives you the freedom to switch parks at any point during the day. For example, we don't care much for the food at MK, so we will go there in the morning and then hop on the Monorail and go to Epcot for lunch.

As far as the DDP goes, the rules state you can get it up to 48 hours prior to checkin. Of course, the package you booked may have different rules.

The only option I can think of would be to purchase the hotel stay separate from the park passes. That would allow you to get your 5 day passes that you can use prior to checkin. We have done hotel-only bookings since we have annual passes. Of course, you may not get the same discounts you were receiving for the full package. I am not sure how it would work to add the DDP if you did that.

to answer question 3 first - unless you are a DVC member or renting from you you must buy the ddp or dddp with your hotel booking. it can not be added once you arrive.

i'd just cancell the park hopper and buy a 5 day park hopper on it's own when you arrive or order it before and pick it up when you arrive at the park

First of all,THe park hopper option is a sure thing and best way to go.

I was just hoping to be able to take advantage of adding on a couple extra park days to our existing option.

I guess, due to the price of just getting an additional 2 day park hopper, which is ridiculous, we now are looking at (gasp) universal for a MUCH more reasonable cost.

All in our party have been to the World and the other park many times prior ,so will just hit the highlites of both parks since will be crowded-spring break, when we are there.
