ok, so it seems like alot of people are into digital scapbooking. which looks fun. What do you do with your layouts after? Do you print them and put them in a book?
Do you print them off 12X12 or 8.5X11
do you print them at home?

I get mine printed (12x12 format) and put them in an album. I send away to get mine printed since I don't have a photo printer that will accomodate a 12x12 page. I've been using scrapbookpictures.com and I've had very good results so far.

I have yet to print anything digital yet, I'm still trying to decide which option will be best for me. I am leaning towards a picture/coffee table type book, but I need to finish albums before I do that. Basically the options are:

Get a 12x12+ printer and print at home.
Create in 12x12 but print at 8x8 at home (very popular choice).
Some people (not many) create at 8x10/8.5x11 so printing at home is easy.
There are send out sites that print pages for you, Costco is popular, sbtoshare.com is also, there are others. They print your pages and you put them in a regular book as you would paper pages.
Photo books like at www.heritagemakers.com or www.shutterfly.com where you get a coffee table style book of your pages.

I haven't done any yet. But I plan to send away & have them printed on 12x12.

I own a 12x12 printer, but the cost of paper that large (& ink) doesn't justify printing my own.

I also plan on taking some of my "real" scrapbooking stuff & adding to the printed 12x12 layout for 2 reasons. First I can use some of it up. Second, I like a little bit of real dimension & not so flat.

Timon (from the DIS) created some digital layouts for me a while ago & emailed me the files. I printed them as 8x8's instead. THEN, I matted them on 8.5 x 8.5 piece of cardstock...then put that on a 12x12 piece of cardstock. Put it all into a 12x12 black frame. THEY LOOK AWESOME. The dimensions of the thin border & then the remaining cardstock looks like a professional matting job. I've been updating my frames & artwork on the walls...and this is my new style.

The layouts she did were 1 large picture & a couple of background papers & a large font title. All faded into each other like a collage look. Not straight definite lines. The style worked really well for framing / matting it.

I create in 12 x 12 then downsize and print in 8x8 and put them in albums.

I have a great photo printer and I like being able to pull them out and share

Currently the stuff I've gotten printed, I'm printing at Mpix, but that route is expensive. I print close to 12 x 12 inch and then put the entire photo page into a Creative Memories album. (I use 11.3 inch x 12 inch because of the page edges.)

I've also bought a couple of 5 x 5 inch Heritage Maker albums as gifts, and I'm currently working on a Creative Memories Storybook. (I just figured out how to create my own Storybook pages instead of using the premade templates. )

One day I hope to own a good wide format Epson printer, but for now I'm pretty happy with how things are going. I've heard good things about scrapbookpictures.com, but I've yet to try them.

Another option I've heard of is that if you have a Costco membership, you can print a 12 x 18 inch out with a 12 x 12 inch LO plus a couple of other little pictures, and the cost is only $3. I don't have a Costco membership, unfortunately, and Sam's prices are not the same.

I just started dabbling in digi scrapping.. as you can see by my other post..
So, all my LO's have been 8.5x11" - which i must admit, i really like. And i print them off myself..
however, i do own a 12x12" Epson wide format printer (photo 1280), and i have printed on 12x12 papers as well, but for now, i have more 8x11 paper, so i am using that and playing around..
I like being able to print it myself, instant gradification! LOL

i plan on creating my digital pages the printing them in a 12x12 printer book, ie shutterfly, winkflash etc. i will design the pages as a single photo and drop my 12x12 page in. has anyone ever done this?

Creative Memories has free software for their digital scrapbooks, with interchangable templates and themes. The books come in two different sizes 11x8-1/2 (landscape) and 8x8. Once you have designed it, you send it off to the CM Photo Center and within 2 weeks you have a bound book. You don't print a thing!

I'm a CMC and these things are great! I'm hooked on them. Once you're familiar with the software (in which you can do basic photo editing), it only takes about 2 hours to complete an album, and the prices are comparable to making a traditional album.

Another important thing to note about the Creative Memories Storybook software: you DON'T need to have the Memory Manager software to use the Storybook software. I use PSE now, and had uninstalled Memory Manager a while ago. I had thought until recently that you needed to have MM in order to run Storybook, but when I heard that wasn't the case I went & finally downloaded the Storybook stuff to play with it. I've used another brand of photo book making software, and the CM stuff was much easier to deal with.

I'll be working on my first Storybook this weekend. It's gonna take me longer than 2 hours, though, since I'm making my pages from scratch.

I still think that for Disney trips & baby/kid stuff, I prefer to get a 12 x 12 page printed & then I'll stick it in a CM album. I just prefer that album look/feel as opposed to a regular book. A photo book has a sleeker look to me that doesn't seem to lend it to traditional scrapbook style LOs. That's just my opinion, though.

I believe.. that disneys is expensive.. for some reason 70-80.00 is in my head.. (could be wrong though!)

I figured it would be expensive, but... If it is REALLY good, I just may have to check it out after our trip. I tried to look into it to see what it was like, check prices, etc., but you can't get onto the site unless you have a PhotoPass #.

Yup, that's basically what you do. I work in 12 x 12, so I am using the 8 x 8 book option. That way, the ratio stays the same although the page would be smaller. As for the rectangle option, I don't know that there's a lot of premade digistuff in that ratio, so you'd have to create from scratch if you wanted to design your pages yourself.

Also, keep in mind if you're designing, that there is a bit of cutoff around the edges. So, keep anything crucial away from the edges.

Honestly -- if all you scrap is 12x12, then i would keep an eye out for a good sale on a 12x12 printer. Go to the Epson.com site, and sign up for their email sale list -- as well as checking stores. I got mine for 300.00. Which in the long run isn't bad.
Right now though, i am going to try to have them printed, www.scrapbookpictures.com is having a sale thru febuary - for 2.49 per lo. with only $2 shipping on any number of lo's. So, for that price, i will have them do a few, cuz i am out of 12x12 paper to print on.
