I want to try digital scrapbooking as I find I have less and less time for traditional scrapbooking and with a laptop could make more time for digital scrapbooking. Can anyone recommend a program to use for a first time digital scapbooker? I have found some kits I want to use, and understand that the program must accept PNG and JPEG files. I appreciate all suggestions... thank you.

I am interested in a good program as well. I have a Mac and would love to hear how others got started. I feel so guilty because I swore I would never leave traditional paper cropping. I have so much invested in supplies but they are becoming more expensive and for what I have spent in supplies the last month I am sure I could have bought a great program.:confused3

I have been using Scrapbook Factory for a few years and have really liked that software. I can either use their layouts or use kits that I have gotten off the internet. It has tons of papers and elements that can be used in layouts. It supports both png and jpeg, as well as others. But I don't know if it works on Mac.

The Mac version of Storybook Creator from CM is coming out on November 1. You can email me for more info if you need.
Thanks
Doreen

Storybook Creator is fabulous! So easy to use. Their stuff is gorgeous and I can upload my papers and elements for projects too.

Doreen - are you a CM consultant? If so, what part of MA are you from? I am in SE MA near RI. I ask that because I don't have a CM consultant at the moment and I may be interested in that program...

I just started digital scrapbooking with CM Story Book Creator. So far I have been happy with it though I am still learning all the features. I like that I can either use CM kits or import other ones. Since I'm a newbie, I have been using mostly the CM pre-designed pages ( from the Mickey content cd) or the click and fill pages. These give me something to start with but still let me make changes.

Another alternative is ACDSee Photo Editor. That is what i scrap with,. It is similar to PhotoShop Elements, but IMHO- it is much easier to work with. It is also less expensive. It is nice for beginners because it can be used on "Full Auto" where you can use pre made pages/papers and elements and use the softwares autifeatures to add special affects.
Or if you are, or soon get to be, a more advanced user, the software has a lot of flexibility and capability for you take over and create your own effects and elements.

I have used Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Designer Deluxe and I outgrew that very quickly. I have been using Photo Editor 2008 and its' previous version for many years and I am still very happy with it.

I have PSE6, but bought a copy of SBC+ during CM's WOW sale last summer. With SBC+ I was able to make a simple page in minutes using their click and fill page templates.

I use CM's SBC+ and just finished my 70 page 12x12 book. It's arriving today! :cool1::cool1: I love it.

Some of the pages were predesigned and some were my own creation from scratch. I have a bunch in my pre-trip report on page 2, you can see the link in my signature. I love using my photos as background paper and changing the opacity so they are a little faded. I did that on the Kali River Rapids page. If you look at the background paper you'll notice that it's a zoomed in look at the rapids on the river. And the background on the Everest page is a faded photo of the mountain itself. That makes it a perfect match with the photos and definitely not cutesy, but very custom. I also learned how to make things into glitter...love doing that for Disney pages!

I worked on the first part of the book this summer but completed the last 50 pages or so in under two days. Yeah, try that with traditional. :rotfl:

I bought Story Book Creator Plus about a month ago and WOW! I was more than 2 years behind in photos and now I am very quickly catching up. With SBC+ I can still be creative but when I am really short on time I can simply use their predesigned pages and just add my photos. I won't ever give up traditional scrapbooking entirely but I think I will be doing the majority of it digitally.

How do you print your books - through CM? And what is the cost? I am also thinking of going digital for our Disney trips as I am just so far behind...

Can you share how you do this or point me to some directions? Thanks!

Add a little Bling to your pages

Bling Challenge - Page 020

This it the CM – Go Digital challenge #10 from the Facebook group. This was so much fun and easy to do. Here are your instructions on how to add bling your embellishments.

Add the item to be "glitterized" to your project. While clicked on the item, click on the "Format" tab. Next, click on "Surfaces". Choose the very first surface option, "Block". Slide the "Amplification" selector all the way to the right, to number 10. Click "Accept".

Repeat the above process again. In most cases, this will yield you a bling-ish enough glitter finish. If you would like more, do it again.

These are some examples I did after following the above for the first time, so you know it's easy!

Sorry to bring this back up, but can someone answer this question for me? I'd like to start digital scrapbooking, and I'm looking for a software to get.

Studio J is web-based software that creates beautiful 12x12 layouts using patterns from our how-to books as well as exclusive online patterns.

You can use the software for free and pay nothing until you decide to purchase your layouts.

Studio J is intuitive and easy to use; there are just 5 easy steps to creating a beautiful layout:

1. Upload photos.
2. Choose the desired themed kit.
3. Select an exclusive layout pattern.
4. Add photos, embellishments, title, and journaling.
5. Purchase custom-printed layouts ready for a cherished album.

You can access the software at www.studioj.com and set up an account.

Feel free to PM me with any questions, or ask them here!

Have you considered the Creative Memories Storybook Creator digital program? Go to their site and download the free trial. You can go ahead and create a free book - realizing that your choices are limited for pages, but it does give you great insight into whether this is the program you might want. Caroline

It really depends on how many pages and what size book you do. They start at under $20 and go up from there. Digital is always cheaper than traditional. Hands down. It just feels like more because it's all at once instead of $20 or $30 here and there all the time.

January 1 through 31 would be an economical time to order. ;) Please feel free to PM me. :thumbsup2
