Digital gift cards

Can I buy my kids digital gift cards and have them load them onto the Disney app so they can use them anywhere themselves?

You can't pay directly from a gift card on the app. But they can pay from the bar code of a digital gift card stored on a phone.

You can upload the gift card and pay using Google or Apple wallet. Note that, if eating at a sit down restaurant, the wait staff will have to take the phone to the register to scan the gift card.

I always like to bring an amount for our food and drinks on a gift card. Like others said, there is no way to currently store a gift card on the app (it has to be entered each time) outside of the Apple or Google Wallet workaround. When we went in April, I had the gift card info on my notes app that I could cut and paste if I was doing a mobile order. But most of the time, I preferred to just use my physical card and walk up to counters.

The cut and paste method may be too much for a kid, depending on the age. Physical cards may be best. I REALLY wish we could pay with our MB+s! That would be amazing.

Me too! For my August trip, I'll bring cash and gift card combo,,plus I can use my credit cards! Disneyland gets my money in one form or another lol!

i created a shortcut on my iphone that would copy the giftcard number from the notes app then launch the disneyland app so that all i had to do was paste it in to the payment field

Isn't there some "gotcha" that only certain Disney gift cards can be put in Apple Wallet? I seem to remember a previous discussion about that.

Maybe. I use Google wallet and it isn't a problem.

I should have said "digital wallets," not just Apple Wallet. I thought I had read that only digital Disney cards could be added to digital wallets. Is that not the case?

Not sure. OP asked about digital gift cards. I add digital Disney gift cards to my Google wallet on a regular basis. The balance doesn't update on the wallet after I make a purchase (ie. always shows original dollar value), but the remaining balance prints on the receipts I receive.

For what I could understand I can't add a Digital Gift Card to my Disney app to use it to order food among other things, but I can copy and paste the number on the card to the Disney app and that would work, am I right? Can I use this method to buy Genie+ and Lightning Lane too? Thanks!

I used a digital gift card last trip. I was able to copy and paste the numbers to buy ILL and mobile order and then just had them scan the barcode (directly from the email or a screen shot) when I bought food or merchandise at the counter.

You can use an empty physical Disney gc. Just add it to your Disney Gift Card account online (https://www.disneygiftcard.com/), add the digital Disney gc and transfer it to they physical one.

For safety, I always delete the cards from the website afterward. It doesn't affect the balance, just keeps the card safe from potential hackers.

Edited to add that the physical card you add to the Disney GC account doesn't have to be empty. I often come home with money left on a card. I consolidate my cards into one just before a trip.

Thank you! That was very helpful. I was trying to add the egift card to our account with no luck. It was easy to put it on an old actual card.
