due to an unfortunate incident while trying to take our kids xmas picture, we are now in the need of a new camera. does anyone have any suggestions. I m hoping to keep it betwenn250-300 thanks

The Minolta Dimage S414 is a fantastic camera and definitely a bargain. I can't say enough about it!

We got ours last summer when it was about $335 on amazon.com. Now you can get it for closer to $300. It is a 4 mega pixel digital camera with a 4x optical zoom and a 2.2 digital zoom lens. It uses compact flash cards and comes with a 16mb card. The camera also takes 60 second movie clips. We used ours on our recent WDW/DCL trip and the photos came out great! I highly recommend it.

Also, whatever digital you go with, invest in some rechargable batteries. You'll go through regular batteries quicker than you can imagine. The rechargable type last much longer and you can recharge them 1000 times before they need replacing.

The Canon A70 is a 3 megapixal really nice and easy camera to operate...you won;t be sorry ....average around $275
