I know I'm rare, but I enjoy reading instructions, and actually read all manuals before using any new product (even before driving a rental car). DW can't stand that about me.
Marseeya -- I gotta give you that one, camera most manuals are often in too small of print for those of us getting older and needing longer arms. If that's the case, try looking on the camera manufacturers website for a manual in pdf format. It may print out larger than the manual that came with the camera.
And they also don't do a good job of explaining the technical terms.
DW has just ordered a new camera and we're eagerly awaiting its arrival. I've already downloaded the manual in pdf format and read it.
I've always been this way, though. I'd rather read the manual and get it right the first time than struggle.
NSDXW (not so dear ex-wife) and I were taking a road trip once while dating. She had had this car for a couple of years and we had been dating a couple of months. I did something to the radio (don't remember what), and she was like, "How'd you do that?" I had read the car's owners manual while she was driving.

That's so funny! It's usually just the opposite here.
What kind of camera did you get? I got so frustrated with the manual that I bought a great book called How to Do Everything with Digital Photography by David Huss. The book is really great about explaining all the different photographic techniques my camera could do, which enabled me to understand the manual a whole lot better. The manual assumes you know all the little details, which is understandable.
We ordered a Kodak DX 7590 (5mp, 10x optical zoom). We already have a digital camera, and DW doesn't like that it only zooms to 3x (optical), so, she decided I was going to buy her an early birthday present.
