Digi scrap tutorial

I know it was here somewhere but I can't find it, can someone please point me in the right direction? TIA
I finally downloaded a trial of Photoshop so I'm trying it out.

Buffy, did you download the regular version of photoshop ? or did you do Photoshop elements?? IMO -- if you aren't familiar with digi at all, then you might find Photoshop very overwhelming! Photoshop elements, is IMO a way better way to start........... then, if you enjoy it, it's only about $100 to buy versus SEVERAL hundred for reg. photoshop.. Just an FYI! LOL

As for tut.s -- check out www.scrapbook-elements.com , and www.scrapgirls.com .. both helped me "see the light" when i first started..

And please feel free to pm me if you need help, I use photoshop elements, so i can help with that, but the regular photoshop i don't know - nor will i probably ever -- Too rich for my blood! LOL Good luck!!

I downloaded the regular one. As long as I have a good tutorial I should be able to muddle my way through. Thanks though! I'll keep you in mind if I get stuck.
BTW on the topic of digiscrapping. I was talking to one of the guys at the local Walmart and he said they are looking into getting the capabilities of printing scrapbook pages. I hope so!!!

Now, my question for ya,is.. if you LIKE the regular one, what will you do when your trial expires? Will you invest in it?? It just scares the pooh outta me to spend that $$ on a program!! But, i guess you can do some great stuff with it........ Even the tutorial books i have seen at Barnes and Nobles are like $50! LOL

If one of the less expensive ones does the same thing I'll probably go the cheaper route.
So I got the background paper on a page but that's it, I couldn't figure it out. Of course all the instructions with pretty pictures are Windows related (blech) so I'm having a tough time, beaing a visual learner and all.

Whats the difference between Image ready CS2 and Photoshop CS2?

Sorry, i don't know.. as i said, i just use the Elements version.. CS2 is outta my league..lol. I honestly don't know.........

I believe that Image Ready is part of the "CS" in a program like Photoshop CS2. (The CS stands for "Creative Suite". When Adobe started bundling the programs together, they took on the CS name; PSCS2 is the equivalent of Photoshop 9, plus Image Ready.) I know that I have Image Ready in PS CS2; I haven't used it yet, but it gets used by some to create animation, like blinkies. I'm not sure if you can buy the program on its own or not.

I would definitely recommend PS Elements if you're new to the whole PS world and want a Photoshop program. A lot of the basics are the same, but yes, the price tag's a whole lot more affordable. It's possible to find PSE5 around for about $50, depending on sales & rebates. You can also "upgrade" to full Photoshop sometime down the road if you want, and you'll be ahead of the game if you have learned PSE. In fact, once or twice a year Adobe's been offering a special upgrade price to PSE users that's half off the retail price. I finally took advantage of it during their last offer in February. I love some of the new features I got, but am glad I went the PSE route first. And you can do a LOT of stuff in PSE, definitely! I always felt like if I could think it up, I could do it with PS and PSE. (A little more so with PS, though; gotta love the text & path options! )

(ETA: Since it sounds like you're on a Mac, you'd be looking for PSE4. But 4 & 5 are quite similar.)

There are other programs that people use for scrapping, like Photo Shop Pro, Digital Image Suite, and ACDsee. Free trials exist for some of those, too. A lot of times it's just a matter of finding a program that you're comfortable with using. There are also some digi tuts on www.twopeasinabucket.com .

Thanks for the info Chris. I'm not the most computer literate person in the world. I know shame on me since that is DH's profession. But There are some technics in the digi world that I love, like layering the doodles over the edge of a pic, you can't do that with rub-ons and sometimes chipboard is not the look you're going for. So I want to give it a try.
And yes I run on Mac. I have an Apple store near me though so I can go there to buy the Photoshop if need be. Heck they'll even help me install it!

I know what you mean. I was telling my best friend (solely a paper scrapper at this point and probably always will be) that there's no way I could have duplicated the process I used in my Dreams Come True? page IRL. It's the one with the pixie dust flying off the wand; look here if anyone needs to see what I'm talking about. Well, maybe I could have gotten a similar look with tiny stickers, but that would have been a heck of a lot of work!!!

Adorable!! And I doubt you would have gotten stickers small enough to look like pixie dust. You might have been able to use stamps but then you would have a blank space near the edge of the pic unless you stamped the paper under the pic. But then lining up the pic to continue the flow would be tough. Same thing with the rub-ons. They would most likely break at the edge of the pic.
