Different Dings for different home airports?

Okay, so I am slow...but, it seems that I see DINGs posted here that never popped up for me. My home airport is St. Louis, I haven't seen any dings for dates past March 8th at all. Others seems to be getting dings for dates all the way up to june. What gives?

Some markets are customized in terms of capacity controls. STL is one of them, because SWA is now our largest carrier, especially on the FL routes. For the most part, they don't need to do advance DINGs in this market; the seats already sell very well without them.

HMMM so that must be the story with Norfork, Va. I have Rhode Island as my home airport and have looked for fares to Norfork. When a ding comes up, Norfork is not even listed.

I think there are 2 different types of DINGS. One seems to be a general DING for many destinations that don't seem to be past February or March. The other DINGs are special DINGs for only a certain destination and those DINGs are sometimes through the end of the schedule (June, right now).

Since we are planning a trip to WDW in June, I changed my home airport from New Orleans to Orlando. Now, I see all the DINGs associated with Orlando.

The special DING this morning was from Philly and Baltimore to/from Orlando and it was thru June 9th. If you had Orlando, Philly, or Baltimore as your home airport, then you received the DING. If not, then you would not have seen that DING.

I changed my home airport just to help out with the DING history thread and just to see the specials going into Orlando from different places.

To change your home airport, just open your DING window and click on "Update Registration" in the top right section of the window.
