We are thinking about trying one of the Contemporary wings for our next trip. We're wondering what is the difference between a "garden wing standard" room and a "garden view" room? Is it just the view? What are the views and locations for each type of room? Would appreciate any info or tips on staying in either of these. Thanks.

We stayed at the Contemporary Garden Wing North in 2001 - and my kids LOVED it!!! We were a short walk to the main lobby and monorail, and from our window, we could see the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom! It was really nice! And, with the North Wing, it was a very short walk to the Magic Kingdom (the monorail will make three stops on the way to MK; but its the first stop back from MK).

My little one really enjoyed watching the kiddie cartoons in the area right outside the arcade! It was a great spot to people watch too!

Enjoy your stay!!!

I've read reports that the North Garden Wing in particular needs work because it's been overbooked: Shades of Green guests have had to use it for the last year. However, i stayed at the South Garden last March and it was in terrific condition. You may luck out. I'd say give both wings the benefit of the doubt.

Also, be sure to ask for a first-floor. All first floor rooms have a patio. All other rooms lack balconies. If you luck out and get a room facing Bay Lake or the Water Bridge (you can request it), you're getting one of the prettiest, most isolated rooms in WDW. There's nothing like enjoying yoru early morning coffee listening to the loons while on your patio, or an after-dinner nightcap
